Oh, they'll listen ... just long enough to evaluate you as someone who could cause trouble for other employees in the future, and then marginalize you insofar as promotions and raises are concerned.
I've seen it happen with people who admit to addictions, bankruptcies, depressive disorders, divorce, PTSD, and other personal issues deemed "Potentially Disruptive".
This is one of the reasons why I'll never come out at work as having an ASD.
