I want to get some anime DVDs somehow, but I don't know what I'm into as I there's no decent anime here on TV. I used to like shonen like Duel Masters, but that got lame. I also liked Pokemon and Hamtaro, which also got lame. I saw one episode of Ghost in the Shell: Stand Alone Complex, and I loved it. I wouldn't mind getting that on DVD, if I can find it here...

Hi,

I'm new here and just saw your post on the home page.

I have literally a few thousand hours of anime and a few hundred pounds of manga around my apartment.

The best anime ever is Neon Genesis: Evangelion, which can be slow moving and very thinky at times, but is still the best.

There are two Ghost in the Shell movies, and two TV series. Any come highly recommended.

For mindless fun, I enjoyed all the assorted Tenchi Muyo, El-Hazard, and Slayers series.

If you like action, Trigun is a silly comedy that slowly turns into a serious drama, and Cowboy Bebop is a semi-serious drama that turns very serious.

Kamichu is sweet, harmless innocent fun.

If you have high-speed internet, go to www.animesuki.com for torrents of legally downloadable, fan subtitled anime that is not currently available in the stores.

Hope that helps.

I might look into some of them, thanks. That's if I can find DVDs here, as I want something to do at home when I'm bored, and watching anime was the best idea I had.

Princess Mononoke; Cowboy Bebop [The Movie], the show also; Ghost in the Shell (original, haven't seen the new stuff); Space Pirate Captain Herlock (the new one: "Endless Odyssey" I think it's called)...I saw Akira on TV awhile ago, I remember liking it.

These are all pretty cool IMO: you'll be able to find them at the shops in Oz, I did.
