Hoarding can be a bit like addiction, as in you are always aware of the potential to slip backwards if you don't practice your daily anti-hoarding techniques. It is about being aware that the hoarder is still in there.

I don't expect anyone to really understand as it is difficult for the person with a hoarding problem to understand. It is something I have lived with for years and know how hard it is to give up a tiny useless piece of anything.

There are many reasons for hoarding and some are very understandable such as hoarding food if you are worried you may not be able to afford food in the future. Or if a creative side wants to keep things to recycle.

I know what it looks like to outsiders, however, I also know it can in some way sooth me.

I hoard food, but only in video games. I'm not entirely sure why.

I hoard stuff in my video game too.

But in real life I hate clutter and want to get rid of anything I don't absolutely need or use.

I'd like to be able to fit everything I own into a single suitcase.

So there were old oak tress in front of the police station and alongside city hall. I reminded myself to take a look at their leaves today. It was then that I realized they are not there anymore. Guess I was too distracted by the grounds of the courthouse being all torn up for renovations.

Local fire radio: engines responding to local parking lot on reports of a car smoking.

Personally, if the car is over 18 I don't see the problem.

I've discovered a rather thorny problem with my writing.
It's a bit of the Star Trek conundrum, actually--a post scarcity utopian universe [but with manifestation instead of replicators] in theory, but characters act like things are still scarce, and in the case of my first series, logically, there would be none of the dark struggles that occur in Book 2, 3, and 5 of Series 1 especially [and none of the cosmic stakes in my latest series]. I've tried to explain it away by stating that some beings want to have super challenging life situations to grow spiritually...but...I'm not sure it works in practice.

It would make more sense if the story was about Bajorans, either during or after the Cardassian occupation.

Just walked down a street that has oak trees on both sides which form a canopy. Lot's of orange and red leaves. Lots of leaves and acorns on the ground. Lots of squirrels romping about gathering them.

Also lots of pumpkins, spiderwebs, ghosts and skeletons on porches.

If it took place on Bajor it would explain the scarcity. But if you've written it to take place aboard the Enterprise than it would be impossible to rewrite it for a different setting.

It's not a Star Trek story. I was just comparing it to Star Trek. Sorry.

I just finished writing a novel. It's about a crazed ship captain obsessed with harpooning an elusive white whale. A very original story if I say so myself. My next novel will be about a hunchbacked man who lives in a bell tower.
