Good riddance, it was another one of those race things that Obama often does to try and make whites feel guilty about everything.
His father has connections to the dictatorial president of Sudan. His sister was suspended for making bomb threats a couple years ago. The clock was not built but actually token apart in a manner knowing that it would look suspicious. The police acted in the appropriate manner and what happens, the entire town receives death threats, gets scolded by celebrities and Obama. While clock boy got free stuff from Microsoft praise from Zuckerburg and a visit to Middle Eastern leaders and the White House.

Thanks for reminding me that leaving Clermont was the best decision I've ever made.

I'd bet he's closer to the truth than what the forced narrative wants to show the masses.

It's one of those non-stories that took unrealistic levels of traction.

I'm white, and I don't feel guilty. There's no reason to feel guilty about when attention is drawn to racial wrongs both past and present, unless you have something to feel guilty for.

Good riddance indeed to an agitator and his family.

Further evidence that the quince doesn't fall far from the tree.

There is something wrong with beating us over the head with this nonsense. The 'racial wrongs' from the past are past.I was in high school when that stupid, inaccurate "Roots" miniseries was on. I got crap from black people in school because " Your ancestors enslaved my ancestors". They didn't. I had ancestors who fought the Rebels, and two died ( one with the 111th New York Infantry at Gettysburg, one with the 3rd Ohio Cavalry in the Western campaigns).
As far as 'present' wrongs go, after years of Affirmative Action and quotas favoring minorities, if they can't get their acts together, that's no one's fault but their own.
And before anyone goes and accuses me of being a racist, my family has a history of believing that all people should be treated fairly. My ancestor Jacob Buys was 'read out' ( excommunicated) from the Sodus Point (N.Y.) Presbyterian Church, along with some other of my ancestors, for being an abolitionist. He and a few other like-minded individuals built a brick-lined tunnel from his house to the shore of Lake Ontario, where he would load escaped slaves into a rowboat and take them to a schooner owned by one Captain Garnett, another ancestor. From there they would be taken to Canada.

No one should make you feel guilty for something you have no responsibility for. That said, the past shouldn't be forgotten just because it's uncomfortable.
As for the present - racism and racial resentment is still alive, despite affirmative action and quotas. Minorities, particularly blacks, even if they are the most qualified, often have as much chance of being hired as do whites with criminal records. The perception by many civilians and law enforcement is that blacks are criminals till they prove otherwise. Too often, their lives are viewed as disposable. The truth is, white privilege is real, even though we whites are more often than not oblivious to it as we enjoy it's benefits, just as black lives all too often don't matter, even though they should.

no one should be blamed and harrassed about what happened in the past. anyone involved with slavery back then is long dead.

now...if you CONTINUE that, then yes...you are gonna get the harrassment.
so when a muslim kid with a typical muslim name brings in a "home made clock" to school...yeah...s**t is gonna hit the fan. i bet you he knew full well what would happen. in the picture of him in the cuffs...he kinda looks not THAT upset. and now he's laughing all the way to the bank from the free ride and the 15 minutes we gave him.

if he didn't want to be judge...he could have made something else.
there was another kid, near the same age...i think he was from florida...and he had put together his own motorbike for racing. he did not tear apart one thing and stick it into another. where is his recognition?

From how the clock kid's demeanor was described, I tend to think he might be on the autistic spectrum. That being the case, it's not beyond the realm of possibility that the reality of the situation just went over his head.

There is no evidence whatsover that the clock was meant to be anything other than a clock. When the police put him in handcuffs and hauled him to be interrogated without his parents or a lawyer, they already knew that it was harmless. All they wanted was to get him to say it was a fake bomb. In fact, since he showed it to his engineering teacher soon after arriving at school, it was clearly nothing at all -- if it was a fake bomb the last thing he would want to do is to show it to anyone.

And it only looked like a bomb to those who wanted it to be a bomb. There were no fake explosives at all. How does it look like a bomb if it has nothing to explode.

Note that the kid also had a track record of bringing various gadgets to school. This was nothing more than one of his gadgets.

Even if it had been a fake bomb, it should be noted that under Texas law it is not illegal at all to build or possess a fake bomb. It is only illegal if you intend to use it to scare someone or cause concern among the authorities. One's intent is everything on that matter -- no intent, no crime. About the worst they could have done was expel him from school which the cretins did anyway.

But I'm glad he's move to Qatar. Maybe that will stop the bellyaching. I doubt it, though.

Which is what I assume to be true.

Which also doesn't take away from it being a non-story.

How many people are given so much for drawing pictures of firearms (which is inventing if they're unique) and getting arrested? That's right: zero.

The fact that he's a Muslim and has so much support is actually racism itself.

Well, if we are making assumptions here, then I assume he did this for the attention, and while he may have gotten more than he anticipated, he got his ego fed.

I see this whole case as being strange.

A child makes a clock, I've seen photos of it, you'd have to be Boston level(It had LIIIIGHTS!! !) mooninite to think that was a bomb.

I think their is a reasonable argument that he may have tried to seem cleverer than he was.
Probably not the first 14 year old child in all of living history to big note himself.

In response the school goes full f**ktard and get the police down, Code 1(Lights and Sirens).

And then the country as a whole runs after them off the deep end and it's invite to the whitehouse time.

To me the whole thing from start to finish, just, seems like a patchwork of neurotic overreactions.

I don't see it. He showed off his clock to his teachers. That was the only ego stroke I think he was going for.

It's racism to stick up for the possible victim of racism?
