I would like my browser to give me more control over how much caches is in RAM and how much is on disk. Specifically, I want all my cache to be done in RAM, and dumped to the disk at regular intervals, and I would really like to be able to cache dynamic pages.

As minimal interface as possible.

SPEED

Compliance with open standards.

Ad blocking with a database of known ads and a tiered blocking system. (I think small banner ads and Google ads are okay, but big ads that take up half the page and flash ads are a BIG NO!NO!, I have found that ad blocking is also good against popups that work around blockers, others may wish to block all ads, and I think they have that right)

Good integration with the operating system it runs on. (that's why I don't like using FF or Opera, neither respects the OSX functionality)

I would also like to see a universal (works with different browsers on different platforms) Java based browser plugin system with a secure interface with the browser and the computer. (so plugins look like PART of the browser and not some thing, and so the plugins can access the filesystem with the users' explicit permission)

I also want my browsers to have the ability to spoof other browsers very accurately. (e.g. more than just through the http header, but also programming interfaces of other browsers and other nasty methods that evil web developers use to find out if I am not using IE)

Be fast,even on crappy computers.

Boot up as fast as IE 7 on this computer.

No random popups from the browser that shuts it down.

Try Lynx (if it still exists) it gives a minimal interface and great speed.
Adds don't matter (no pics) and it was compliant with all standards - though
newer ones would again be irrelevant.

I made my first webpage Lynx friendly :) That was like 1997 but I had used it perhaps
the first time in spring of 95 or 96 not sure which.

I notice Lynx is included in my Cygwin install. Needless to say WP's forum is not loadable.

Well, just to be awkward, this is me, replying from Lynx.
I'm not sure why your Cygwin version isn't working. This is:
Lynx Version 2.8.5rel.1 (04 Feb 2004)
libwww-FM 2.14, SSL-MM 1.4.1, GNUTLS 1.4.0
Built on linux-gnu Jul 4 2006 22:52:46

PS. I can't say this is easy!

I could get used to it... but I just had "Invalid URL scheme", or some such, when I tried to use the "nerdy" emoticon. :)

Hello from Lynx :)

------edit now using Opera-------

Yeah its very painfull to use Lynx. Oh the problem I had I guess is I assumed WP was not working. I merely scrolled down and saw the forums.

Ah! Yes. I had the same sort of problem at first. All the masses of stuff that you don'y normally see, or that is in incredibly tiny fonts. Plus all the adverts. Then you work your way down the page and finally see what's going on. I did it all in quite a small shell window, which probably didn't help.

I also cheated (as per the quick edit outside Lynx), just really to make sure that I'd got it through OK. I think I let the first post go through untouched, but I corrected a speellink mistake on the second (shorter!) one.

I also keep hitting left/right arrows to try to move around the page, which act as back/forward... not good! I'm sure 'd get used to it if I had to.

PS. Just noticed the subject. This isn't with Lynx. :)
