Does anyone know exercises for getting rid of a robotic voice? I'm also afraid that if I do try to make any inflection, I will sound... gay (no offense) ? I have a very robotic sounding voice.

Take up either singing or acting.

You can easily find an amateur dramatics group, or perhaps something at your school/college?

And singing you can do yourself at home.

Practice getting the emotion and expression across with both acting and singing, the more exaggerated the better. Try regional/cultural accents too.

It will translate to more subtle natural improvements in everyday speaking.

^ These are really good ideas.

You could also record yourself while you do it, so you can see your progress.

I've read that autistic people, with fewer mirror neurons, don't adjust their tone (or face) in recognition to the reactions of other people. Or don't do it as much. I wasn't too sure about this before I had a NT toddler. We can clearly see how he adjusts whatever he's doing as he's checking the reactions of people, even strangers and our pets. When he was a month or two old his face CHANGED as he started making engaging expressions. I imagine when he could see better. His voice changes periodically. I can sometimes tell he's copying my husband.

It's like National Geographic over at my house, lol!
