Would there be some way to make a new section about how Asperger's and Autism are gifts [not just a thread because the one I made got lost somewhere]?

Make GAD sticky maybe... Not sure if an entire section like that will get much traffic.

I think only mods/admins can sticky threads.

I have a feeling a thread like that already exists somewhere, in the depths of forgotten topics.

Thanks, Nekoai! [Do you like your nickname?]

Space Warrior: Yes, there is, and I know because I made it, but then it got lost.

^ Yes, it's nice! I also like "kattvän" or "katt" (Swedish for "cat lover" and "cat" respectively), or "cat lover" or "cat" in any other language, or simply "CL" :D

Autism is not a gift in my opinion, I don't know how our own community feels this way. At best its annoying, at worse its a disability. How is being an outcast with no ability to communicate leaving most people to hate us and sensory issues a blessing or a gift? I don't know how people get off on that, Autism has effected my life in horrendous ways and I am inclined to disagree with anyone who says Autism is just a way of life or a personality trait that should just be accepting of.

Autism is a neurological medical condition, not something to be proud of having. No one is happy or considers it a blessing to have seizures, a heart condition or strokes. Why do we think a debilitating medical condition is a good thing?

some of us have learned to creatively work around our disabilities and put the effects of autism to productive use.

this will be disappointing but we seem to have lost this ability. only other solution is to bump relentlessly. :?

You communicate well when you write. Most don't hate us, some do, a lot are as frustrated trying to communicate with us as we are with them, frustration does not automatically equal hate.

Back more on topic there are a lot of threads along about aspects of thier autism that are positive for the poster. That can be made into a sticky thread if that is the right way to describe them. Perhaps you could look at those threads and see something similar in yourself. From many threads I have reconized a lot of things about myself that I never though about that are both positive and negative.

I am not proud or ashamed of something I was born with. I am proud of how I used it (even though I had no idea what I using which is something to be proud of also) at times , at times I am ashamed of how I used it.
