Can't listen to music from iPhone in car

I have iPhone5c with the iOS 9.1. I don't have the Apple cable that came with the phone since it broke. So I went to Verizon Wireless and purchased a cable that isn't Apple, but from Ventev. I don't think it matters the brand as long as it works. Last night I tried to plug the cable in car, but no music came out of my iPhone5c. I never had issues before. I attached the image of the error message I get in my car. error
Has anyone gotten that error? I don't know why it would happen. I tried restarting my car, unplugging/plugging the cord back.
I do have iPod Nano 3rd Generation and still have the Apple cord it came with, and that works fine in my car.
