I have ASD and others My Parents are Evecting Me
My parents gave me eveiction notice and I have ASD Tourettes, and other related psychological conditions. My dad threw a chair at me, called me all kinds of discrimitory names, and broke my tablet that I use for educational and work related things. I called the police and my mom served me eveiction noticed. Can she leaglly do this as Adult Protective Services had ordered them to help me with food, transportation, and a structured rutine. I am 30 years old. I get SSD and only get less than $700. I cant go to a group home as I am too much need for their requirements as I have to wear diapers. I am not sure where to go from here. I just like to know the answers I. let alone someone told me the letter they sent wouldn't stand up in court. I had my cousolor call APS Again and am waiting for them to do that. The police told my dad to evect me if he doesn't want me to live with them. I am just wondering what are my leagle wrights. My parents argue and harras me so much and they sometimes get abusive with me. So I want to know what help is out there? I am confused and over whelmed of possibly living on the streets. I am scared and just want to cry. My dad doesn't accept who I am. He is really jellious of me for being on SSD and where he had to work. I am just scared. I cant find my Anxiety meds as I think my dad lost them or a cat knocked them someware. I don't even have a bed or room to sleep in. I have to sleep on the living room floor. Please Help!
I believe a group home may be able to provide you with the care you need. If not, then a skilled care facility will be able to do it for you. Either way, they will take your SSI check and give you room and board and you will have medical care. Another possible option, you might be able to get a subsidized apartment, and an in home care giver.
Either way you should do it as soon as possible. Obviously your current situation is not good for you.
I agree that a group home might be much better. It seems unlikely they will change, so hard as this is to go through, could you tolerate what you are going through to go on for the rest of your and their lives? If the answe is yes, I suppose you try to do nothing.
None of which changes how hard this must be for you. I am sorry you are going through this. It would be overwhelming for most people I think.
My case worker has applied for group homes in the past and I was denied for either requiring too much care or the care option wasn't best suited for me. I used to live on my own at one time but was evicted while Appling for SSI. Its not like I am dumb and cant do it, it is one of those things where I somehow fell through the cracks. MY ASD is boarderline ASD and wasn't until recently diagnosed with it. I can talk, communicate to high levels (except when under strees or anxiety), and my bladder issue isn't caused by my ASD it was caused by my testicular cancer surgery at age 7, thank god that wasn't too bad and they caught it early despite it causing me nerve damage. I can take care of my self, I can drive. the problem with me driving is my permit expired as I didn't have $180 for the 5 hour course and now in NYS the permit test costs $120 something I don't have. I am trying to start a computer repair business that isn't so successful and may be closing that down as I put more money in it then what it is worth.
The only thing I have to say, if it is a group home setting that will accept me, I like to have my freedom and possibly work. Because, I was working the typical group home setting wasn't allowed for me to work or have those freedoms. I did qualify for an unsupervised living facility but they felt I would need more than that for care, as they would come in like once a day or week to check up on me and I would share an apartment with someone. I thought this was the best option for me, but they didn't so I fell between the cracks.
After talking to my counsilor today, she said not to worry, and to keep low key for a while and they may change their minds on allowing me to stay. They are more calmer than this weekend. My mom isn't the one behind this. My dad thinks I can work, under SSD's rules is one job either self-employed or employed and no more than $1080 a month in extra work income. I happen not to bring that much income to my self-employment. The only job I held for over a year was at McDonald's where I was in training for management. Then after I was hit by a drunk driver while riding my bike, I was let go from that job. I suffered a severe head injury. I then worked for about a 1 year and half at Wendy's where I was let go for a comment that wasn't made by me but the person who lied was in trouble herself and tried saving her job and blaming me for something I didn't do. I then worked at Burger King for 4 months where I was harassed by management and didn't mesh well with the store manager. My co-workers felt very sorry for me. The assistant manager was going to school for phycology and tried to stick up for me but he failed. I then went back to work for 10 months at Wendy's where I was liked a lot by management until I injured my shoulder that still bothers me today. I was fired as they couldn't accommodate my shoulder injury light duty note. This was since 2012. I been to work at Walmart but I aggravated my shoulder worse than before being a cashier. Walmart was the only job who accommodated me having to have frequent bathroom breaks if I needed it. They where the best place I have worked yet. Only a suggestion for those who want to work but have disabilities.
Thanks for suggesting a group home, but even my current consoler said it may not work out that way as it seems to her I can be sufficient at living on my own. One thing you might notice is my spelling, I am horrible at that and gramer, reading thing. I can wright but not good at spelling. not sure why. other than my English skill set, I am very intelligent with an IQ of 115.
