So, my parents have a lot of double standards. By that I mean they always say one thing, like "don't yell, it's not appropriate," but they're yelling as they say it. I understand that there should be some things they can do that I can't, but sometimes it seems like they get to make completely arbitrary decisions about every aspect of my life, even though I may want something different.

An example of that would be when we're on vacation and I tell them I want to do something, but they say that I can't do everything I want to do, so I'm going to do what they want to do instead. (This has actually happened.)

Does anyone else have this problem, and how do you deal with it?

Thanks in advance! :D

They are only human and maybe you could ask them to compromise?

I've tried talking to them about it in the past, but a lot of the time they don't seem very understanding. I'll ask them why they can do/say something I can't, and they'll say "because" and not give any reason beyond that.

They might be more understanding if I tell them how I really feel, but I'm just not sure...
