Anyone a fan of the Star Wars prequels?

It's almost a universal cliche for people on the internet to be expressing how much they hate the Star Wars prequels or complain about how annoying Jar Jar Binks was in the Phantom Menace (seriously? Is that all they have to complain about?) and some of these people may have made a few good points about them. But regardless of what the (often whiny) Star Wars original trilogy fans have to say about the prequels I can't help but feel like the hate for them is exaggerated. I get it, they weren't perfect movies but neither was the original trilogy that started it all in 1977 (some of the acting was bad, few Lightsaber duels, ect.) something that the Original trilogy fans don't want to admit. Instead they would rather just see the original trilogy as an undeniably perfect set of movies, which goes to show the hypocrisy among the old Star Wars that nowadays is just getting tiresome. I'ts not the original trilogy fans that I hate, It's the attitude they bring whenever they complain about the prequels that gives me the impression that they think that they are the "real Star Wars fans" and that those who like the prequels aren't.

With all this in mind, I can't help but wonder if anyone out there, autistic or not, likes the Star Wars prequels despite all of its shortcomings.

I won't say that the prequels are perfect, the concept of the "Mindi-Chlorians" from the Phantom Menance is a concept that I think ruined the idea of the force in general.

I don't despise the prequel trilogy like some fans do. The lightsaber battles actually showed us what the Jedi and Sith could do in their prime, there were really good sequences such as the pod race, and we got to see the rise of the Empire. Really the only prequel I found really ridiculous was Attack of the Clones and then that was mainly due to the lack of chemistry between the two actors in the middle of the main love plot. I think people judge the prequels too harshly. They do have there flaws but as you said, so did the original trilogy. A New Hope can be almost painful to watch at times there are even parts of Empire Strikes Back that I take issue with.

Attack of the Clones isn't even bad for the most part, but "I don't like sand" and stuff like that really drags it down. Sad because it has my favorite rendition of Kenobi is in it
Phantom Menace is actually really good in my opinion, minus Jar Jar . Liam Neeson as Qui Gon is excellent.

Honestly I didn't mind Jar Jar at the time (obviously I was a kid at the time) but even now I feel like Jar Jar's getting way to much hate (seriously, he did his job; he appealed to kids. If he was truly the worst character ever he'd be either an inappropriate character making sexual and/or obscene jokes and/or a character that ends up being too creepy either because of his looks or because he tries way too hard to appeal to kids.) regardless, I respect your opinion about Jar Jar.

I agree, I can't believe it took me years to realize that the same guy from the movie Taken was the Jedi Master that Trained Obi-Wan Kenobi!

I don't hate Jar Jar in the way that other people do. It's more of a I don't care for the comic relief sort of thing, and he sadly had the role in Phantom Menace. I didn't even like him as a kid, and I was the 4 year old he was supposed to appeal to. I actually liked his part in the greater mythos, without even talking about the rumor of him being the actual villian.

Also as an odd fact I have maybe 5 or 6 Lego Gungans. , more than any other mini figure I think

Even though I do not remember them well, I have actually seen all of the prequel films while they were still in theatres, as far as I can recall. I dunno, Episode 1 had some neat things going for it, Episode 2 seemed boring, and Episode 3 was delightfully dark and violent for a Star Wars film. I also saw an *ahem* illegitimate copy of the newest film, and I thought it was a fun popcorn flick despite reusing a number of things from the previous films.

I've never been a huge SW fan, and tbh this is probably for the better, since people tend to be disappointed when they take the films too seriously. It's a goofy high fantasy adventure series that just happens to be set in space with lasers and spacecraft, not a serious science fiction series like so many think it is. What is the Force afterall? Basically another term for magic. Jedis and Siths are basically monastic warriors who use photon blades as their preferred weapons, and practice a religion/martial art based around usage of their magical abilities. I don't buy this crap about Midi Chlorians for one iota of a second.

...damn it, I'm becoming the one thing I've despised, a rabid, over-analytical Star Wars geek. If you want more evidence that I am truly an SW heretic, I didn't really understand the plot of the original trilogy until I watched Thumb Wars and Blue Harvest, since my attention span for the original films is quite lacking. I find my lack of Star Wars knowledge... rather disturbing.

i liked Jake Lloyd. and if i ever "met" him...i'd tell him that...even though he prolly never wants to hear anything SW related spoken to him. lol it might be the first and last thing i ever get to say to him.

jar jar was horrible, but i can still watch the movies no problem. and i do find it a bit offputting that Amidala never aged but Anakin did?? maybe he had more control of the "life and death" powers of the force than any of the jedi's or sith emporer's knew?

I don't hate the prequels as much as a lot of people seem to. I first saw them as a teenager, around 14-15, and I didn't understand why people hated them so much, I actually liked the corny dialogue in ep. 2, the 'romantic' dialogue was exactly the kind of thing I would say in that situation, I could relate to the romance in eps 2 and 3 far more than any romance movie. I never understood what people had against Jake Llloyd and Hayden Christensen's portrayals of Anakin, they both played the character as written and directed.

I have noticed however, that I like them less and less as I age. I never liked JarJar and I have always been put off by the gungan dialogue, I would have preferred them to talk normally. I never used to mind the overuse of CGI, but it did get to me a bit the last time I watched them, especially the battle on Geonosis.

There are two main things that I particularly like about the prequels, and are arguably better than the originals. The first is the lightsaber duels. I know people don't like how over-choreographed they were but I would rather that than the gentle prodding we got in A New Hope. My favourite lightsaber duel is the one in ROTJ, but the Mustafar duel is a close second, I appreciate the massive effort that the actors put into learning that choreography.
The second thing is the story. Unfortunately the bad dialogue obscured this for a lot of people, but if you can look past that and look at the underlying story, then everything makes a lot more sense, it's pretty much a Shakespearean tragedy. I find it really ironic that all of a sudden fans have begun to appreciate the prequel story for its originality, now that TFA has turned out to be a rip-off of the originals. If anyone complains to me about how unoriginal TFA is, the my immediate reply is 'blame the OT fanboys who didn't give the film-makers any other choice'.

Sure. It has its merits: The battle droids, Yoda, Darth Maul., the lightsaber battles.

I liked the prequels as well as the original trilogy. I get why fans complain about Jar Jar but I found him very funny.

I enjoyed the prequels well enough. They're pretty decent popcorn flicks that you watch whenever you want to see some action. Epic space fights between capital ships and numerous fighters, large scale battles and laser sword wielding space wizards having it out over bottomless pits or in lava fields.

The acting left a lot to be desired and certain elements were rather wonky, but them's the breaks sometimes.

No I don't hate the prequels, they're just not as good as the original trilogy, George Lucas tried to appeal to an audience that didn't exist with a lot of the decisions in them.
That said, the music was awesome (john williams is awesome!)
The lightsaber battle's were awesome
Hayden Christensen actually made a great anikin skywalker, his lines were just crap. Seriously look at him in revenge of the sith when he has to be menacing, he really did scare me as a child, far more than Vader did.

After watching the red letter media reviews of the star wars prequels, I can never look at them the same again.

I do enjoy the prequels. Maybe stylistically they are different from episodes 4 through 6, but that doesn't bother me. Jar jar did not bother me either. I understood what his purpose was. I just enjoy the story.

I noticed that The Force Awakens handles relationships a little different than the other films. I don't think that is a spoiler. Regardless, I still enjoyed it.
