He only lived to be 69, not a long life by Western standards. :(
Anyway, my favorite song by him is "Space Oddity."

So incredibly sad to hear the news of David Bowie's passing.

:(

Saw him live in Ottawa in '87 - the Glass Spider tour with Frampton on guitar. What a concert - outdoors on a warm August night. Duran Duran was the opener.

Looking past all the glitter, glam, and posing, David Bowie was an immensely talented songwriter. Only a handful of artists have had such a profound impact on popular music. R.I.P., David!

David Bowie's music really helped me through the huge difficulties of my early teens. I always felt that he somehow understood what was wrong with the world. I felt that he was one of 'us', even though I didn't know who 'us' was., other than misfit kids in general.

And if the homework gets you down then we'll throw it on the fire and take the car down town... Precisely!

'The Man Who Fell To Earth'....What better alien....ever?

'Labyrinth'...What better Goblin King...ever?

'The Hunger'....What sadder dying/undying lover...ever?

And wasn't he just beautiful when he was young?

And brilliant?

R.I.P., you were our Leonardo, our Mozart!

Now that Bowie is gone, the Sovereign will have to pose as another rock star (to get that joke, you have to be familiar with The Venture Brothers, on Adult Swim).

I hope The Venture Brothers says something about his passing when their newest season starts on the 31st of this month.

Hopefully they won't go too dark and suggest Gary Glitter.

Maybe Mick Jagger.

Big V-Bros fan BTW.

I've been replaying my top five favourite Bowie songs...
1. Modern Love
2. Rebel Rebel
3. Changes
4. Young Americans
5. Blue Jean

So what other glam gods are left? Maybe Billy Idol?

Space Oddity is one of the most haunting songs you could hear and Heroes is one of the most inspiring. In the late 80s
it seems he found it too simple to write commercial hits and decided to forsake them to some extent and be even more
creative in different genres of music, which is commendable as it would have been easier to keep writing hits.He was also a talented actor including comedy timing - in an episode of Extras Ricky Gervais asks him to write a song for him
and Bowie responds in deadpan fashion with a song called Chubby Little Loser.

Bowie was pretty awesome. I re-watched the man who fell to earth the evening of his death, to celebrate his contribution to excellent Bowieness!
