One of my habits that annoy people (sometimes) is pointing out errors in movies. I have accumulated a lot of favorite lines from movies over the years, and I tend to use them in conversation. Anybody out there do the same?

Lines I use:

"At my signal, unleash Hell."
"I believe in America."
"Run away! Run away!"
"I ate his liver with some fava beans and a nice chianti."
"I see dead people."
"Wax on, wax off."
"Round up the usual suspects."
"Ignore the man behind the curtain."
"It means Luca Brasi sleeps with the fishes."
"I was misinformed."
"Fat, drunk, and stupid is no way to go through life, son."
"This is my...boomstick."
"Aristotle was not Belgian..."
"I'm terrified beyond the capacity for rational thought."
"Houston, we have a problem."
"What we've got here is a failure to communicate."
"Looks like I picked the wrong week to stop sniffing glue."
"I'll alert the media."
"Ten minutes to Wapner."

Ha. My movie viewing is pretty well limited to kids' films. So when I go about quoting something, it's probably going to be from Shrek or some Disney flick.

I've got a habit of using lines from movies and tv - when I don't know what to say I often use a 'line', but it doesn't always work, you often get 'blank' looks from people. It's a bad habit. Can't think of many right now, I'll add some more later on an edit.

Sounds like something I'd most probably do if I lived in an English speaking area. I do have a tendency to infrequently refer to things like Monty Python (oh dear, the ultimate geek cliché) and The Prisoner on IRC. Also, if someone else misquotes something, it's often impossible for me to resist the urge to correct them.

I do this all the time. Thankfully, so does my sister and we banter back and forth with movie lines very often. Some of the sources we use most often are Gilmore Girls, Monty Python, SNL, Jane Austen, most Tim Burton films, Lemony Snicket and lots of others.

Frequently.

Guilty...

I quote with little excuse from many films/TV series, in particular Buffy the Vampire Slayer/Angel, Bill and Ted, Wayne's World, Monty Python (favourites other than 'ex-parrot' and 'Run away! Run away!' include ''E's not the Messiah, 'e's a very naughty boy' and anything involving The Knights Who Say 'Ni'), Red Dwarf, Pulp Fiction, Heathers, Austin Powers, Rocky Horror Show, Revenge of The Nerds films, Jim Carrey films, Scooby Doo, The League of Gentlemen, Two Pints of Lager and a Packet of Crisps, Shrek, Father Ted, Bo Selecta, Terminator 2, Robocop, South Park, Simpsons, Futurama, Lord of the Rings, Clerks/Dogma/Jay and Silent Bob..... and don't get me started on web toons... *hangs head in shame*

*slightly edited to include offences I'd forgotten about...

I am only short so my fav Monty Python line is "I'll bite your knee caps off.

Dunc I am guilty of the "He's not the Messiah" line and the random "Ni"

Cat from Red Dwarf is my all time favourite!

Ernie from Sesame street hits high on my list
And those aliens that pop their head in the window and say "Nope...nope...nope nope nope"

Also lines from The Frog Prince (a muppet production narrated by kemit)

Was that the movie about the princess who was cursed and could only say things backwards?

If so, thank you! I have been wondering what that movie was for a long time now.

I used to quote from TV commercials when I was a kid, Doublemint Gum was one of my favorites, because I really wanted a twin for awhile. "Double your pleasure, double your fun, double mint, double mint, gum!" I also liked the Jenny Craig jingle: "One eight hundred, ninety five Jenny!" Then they changed it to 97, and it just didn't sound right.

I tend to use a lot of figures of speech, rather than movie quotes, now. A lot of cliches. Whenever I talk about movies, I invariably quote them, but I don't use it in everyday speech quite as much.

God... trying to remember the lines I use for certain occasions. Problem is, they don't come without stimulus :(

Lemme see... sooooo many to recall...
"I was in the hall. I know because I was there."
"Who's this Christmas tiger?"
"But it is dark upstairs and I am frightened of zi dark. Will anyone go wis me?"
"Save me, Jebus!"
"I don't think they make Nikes in her size, Ray."
"Ni! Ni!"
"You have no power over me."

Ow. Brain hurts. Can't think of any more of the millions I use on a daily basis. DOH!

"Doh!" <---- another one

I tend to correct people who quote incorrectly, too.

I am always pleasantly surprised to discover how easy it is to use movie quotes in everyday life. The lines from Casablanca and the two from the Godfather actually are very handy. "Ten minutes to Wapner" helps move meetings along. The Airplane line about glue sniffing gets attention.

I used to have John Belushi's pathetic plea for his life ("It wasn't my fault...") from The Blue Brothers memorized and ready for use. It really does not work.

Well now I have a secret crush on you! I had this story on cassette tapes (plural) for spares! Every spare moment I had I was listening to this story! HAVE A POP-OVER FROGGY! Then when I was in high school we were aloud to take tapes to listen to in art class. Every time it was my turn they would have to endure The Frog Prince. I know they liked it really. How could they not?

It is a Jim Henson Prodution and is now available on DVD and can be purchaced over the net.

"Well Princess if it was up to me you could quee all the beans you wanted to."
