Because cross gender friendships aren't as common as same gender friendships. None of my male friends know any single women, only wife's of family or friends.

So it's way more likely women will have single women friends then males having single women friends and they'll not trying to date them already.

Yeah but you can still ask both. Maybe if a guy knows any girl he'll still tell anyway.

I wouldn't recommend any girls I know to date guys in other cultures when they haven't experienced what it's like. And I don't know my female acquaintances well enough to trust or ask her this kind of matters.
