I posted my letter to Grace Helbig just to give you a background on why she means so much to me. I guess what I'm asking is, Has anyone come close to meeting someone they really admire, but missed out? How did you deal with the disappointment?

Sort of. I run a game fan site, the Zak McKracken archive. The creator of Zak emailed me a few years ago, saying he was coming to London and did I want to meet him? The thing is, I don't really like meeting anybody, ever. So I said no.

I don't think he understood.

I think he is the greatest game creator in history, and a wonderful human being, but I just don't see any value in actually meeting him. He knows what I think. I don't see how telling him to his face would add anything. Then there would be the long and expensive journey there and back for that five second statement. If I have any questions I can email him any time.

So the whole idea of meeting seemed to be a waste of time and money, and an opportunity to feel super awkward. I get enough of that already in my regular life! :)
