Do you sometimes write a reply, but then don't post it?

I sometimes find a discussion that interests me. Spend ages crafting a reply, then I don't post it.

I get a similar thing when I'm in a group of people, I could be thinking of something that fits into the conversation but instead of saying out loud, the thought just remains an internal monologue.

Anyone else like this?

Yes, I have done this. Sometimes I just can't express what I want to say and give up, or think that my response won't be seen as intelligent.

About half of my posts. If it's in a controversial thread then I usually don't post it. Why stir the pointless pot or create unneeded enemies who could just see my post through a filter anyways.

I've done this many times. I often feel my input is probably the last thing someone needs or can relate to.

This thread might have had twice as many replies, but it doesn't because people didn't post them

Yes - sometimes I stop and think about why I'm posting, then if I decide the post is too self indulgent, or might offend or depress someone, it doesn't go up.

Yes, I do that all the time. I write then think my response is too digressive. I almost decided not to post on this thread, for instance; but then I saw the post above by TheAP.

Lots of times. Especially longer posts for some reason. Sometimes I write them on a word page and never post them. Then I come across them days later and think, what the heck is this? Oh yeah....

Absolutely. I write exactly what I feel, press submit, then take it back. Some people want political correctness so they don't get offended, and some don't mind my rawness. I spend so much time cleaning off the rough edges that my responses sound lame. I'd rather be raw and say what I really feel, but you can't do that here. The PC Police is always on duty.

Sometimes, after I've finished putting all of my thoughts and reasoning into a single five-point essay, I read through it, realize how devastating it could be to the person I am replying to, and then hit the green "Cancel" button.

Most of my best efforts have wound up in the old bit-bucket...

Quite often I find myself doing this if I am not happy with the finished product or I find the post may unintentionally offend someone.

Yes, I reject my posts sometimes, and I edit a lot out of what I do post. I sometimes realise I've gone off at a tangent. I also often feel while I'm typing that I'm getting something really important down, and then a couple of minutes later I decide it's not. I have a "less is more" philosophy which I try to apply, with incomplete success. And sometimes I decide it might be offensive.

Oh, yes! I write way more replies than I ever post. I have also deleted replies from time to time, usually because I come to realize that I completely overshared.
