So I go to this art class once a week which is privately run. It is mainly for 'special needs' people but neurotypical people can go too. Anyway this girl (I'm also a girl) keeps staring at me as if I'm purple and makes me feel very uncomfortable. I start sweating and my heart beats faster. Being in a classroom I can't just walk away. I have high functioning autism. If I make eye contact with anyone I have a miniature panic attack. I'm also too anxious and shy to ask her why she is staring. I'm not very attractive so it is not jealousy.

I usually stare back with a mean look - unless it's a cute guy. :mrgreen:

Or, you can give a mean look then turn your back to them. They should get the message with that.

Or, if you are with someone, act like you're whispering to them and point at this person while they are staring at you and both of you laugh. The staring person will think you're making fun of them and should look away.

Darn, I flunked.

Just to direct this back to the original question.

Here's a few ideas which seem to work for people;
- Blow her a kiss
- Pull a funny face
- Wave at her
The idea is to acknowledge that you are aware that she is staring at you, people typically don't like it when they are caught staring and such things will normally causes them embarrassment, making them less likely to do it in the future.

I sometimes display a disapproving or angry face.

I've been known to stare right back with a huge grin on my face, then start waving at them.
:D
