When discussing Aspies briefly a few weeks ago he said "Ooooh, I love them!" ha, because in a programming role we all know Aspies with a special interest in what they're doing & an eye for detail and accuracy can produce some pretty impressive code when they're hyper-focused on a project.

Anyways, I figured I'd post this here just in case someone local is reading it and is the right fit for a job like this.

Here's the ad blurb on his website:

Quote:
We moved to a new location and we have two Web Developer positions that need to be filled to support our growth. Must be fluent in PHP, MySQL, JS/ajax. Must be capable of building a shopping cart system and ticketing system from scratch. We will need help with setting up a dedicated web server in-house for hosting engine software files. No remote jobs. Must be able to commute comfortably to our Surrey B.C. location.

It also wouldn't hurt one bit if you were a car/Volkswagen/diesel fanatic. His business is basically making those cars go fast by customizing ECU software & other things. He, and now his staff, create the software etc and it's distributed to mechanic tuning shops across North America & the world who install it on peoples' cars. They don't tune customers cars at his shop. The place is just for R&D - which is branching out into more than just software & more than just VW diesels. Details on that are.. Top Secret. ;)

FYI I've known him for ~17 years and can probably answer any non-technical related questions you might have about him or his business.

While not exactly a highly social role, there are 6-7 people working out of one open floor office & the potential for a bit more solitude for someone or two to work upstairs. As with most jobs, the higher functioning someone is the better.. however, if someone is particularly gifted in the web development skills he needs from an employee then as long as you can do the job & produce what he needs when he needs it I'm pretty sure he'd be very OK with most "quirks" so long as they didn't disrupt other staff or clients etc. Heck, he'd probably be OK with someone who was non-verbal if they had the just the right skill set, especially since he's deaf & does most of his business communication via text/email with the exception of in person conversations staff/clients/suppliers/friends etc - but dealing with his distributors and customers around the world is all online, so he fully "gets" communicating via text vs. speech better than almost anyone.

Last little thing: As with all of the roles he's hired for, he's not just looking to hire A web developer.. he's looking to hire the Right web developer & will continue his search until he finds one that's the right fit for what he needs created as well as for the new & evolving "corporate culture" of his business. If you're local, here in the suburbs of Vancouver BC, and are a talented web developer looking for work & this interests you at all, feel free to PM me. For everyone else reading this, it's a nice reminder that Aspies are sometimes specifically sought out for jobs, especially STEM jobs, because we're better at them. 8)
