How would a country run by autistics and aspergians look?

Just putting the question out there. I guess I dream of us taking care of our own needs and each other. I feel that I'd like to have more autonomy from a group of people(NT's) who often misunderstand us.

I just don't like putting my fate in the hands of people who think my quirks are slights against them...

Could we run our own affairs?
I would love to secede to a society that is not telling me to practise being "normal" the way NT's think it is...

I imagine it would be a Democratic isolationist society that's more people-based than corporation-based. Instead of relying on exports, this society would more likely grow its own crops and create its own resources; therefore, the economy of such a country would likely be based on self-subsistence. This country would probably be located on a previously uninhabited island, because the remoteness would give settlers the feeling of separation from the rest of the human population. Jobs would likely be individualized rather than based on teamwork, and getting a job would involve demonstration of skills rather than going through a mere interview process. It would be more or less set away from the rest of the world, but would probably become a popular tourist site, because people would quickly become curious about a country ruled and populated by autistics; unfortunately, due to our world stigma against autism, it may also attract terrorist attention.
It's good to know that I'm not the only one who daydreams about relocating to a newer society where I don't have to be an actor in order to fit in.

I have actually thought about this a bit in the last few days.

I immagine that crime wouldn't be as bad because aspies find it harder to be dishonest. The schooling system would definitely be different. One of the biggest differences with the rest of society would be the culture, things like making friends and dating would be vastly different. Such a society would probobly advance technology and science a lot and have a thriving space program. One thing that would be really interesting to see would be the media produced by that nation. TV shows and movies will contain more autistic characters, music would definitely be interesting, and I immagine that RPGs, simulators, and games with more tedious aspects would be more popular then RTS and FPS games. Politics and international relations would definitely be interesting too.

As Aspies are human like everyone else, such a society would have it's own advantages and shortcomings. In some, it would be a different society, but neither a better or worse one.

Imagine the neurotypical embassy to Aspergia.... we would be so non plussed by their strange pathological need for interdependence.

In a way you could say we are like cats, they are like dogs. I love cats, their nature so reminds me of myself, happy to be with people a bit, but then I want my space and I can't escape from them.
Whenever I see cats being picked up for the hundredth time I know that "meow" really means "nooo!" I really don't like the way people force their "affection" on them....reminds me of how they are with us.

I think it would be better for us, which is the point. I feel tired of accommodating people(NT's) who won't even acknowledge that I need a bit of recognition as being a person with a very different perception. If I explain it to them they either don't understand(forgivable to some extent), or think I am making excuses or leveraging my condition for getting my own way(very ignorant of them).

Elevating our ways to a viable culture, they would not be able to dismiss it.

Imagine....the Affiliated Nations of Aspergia and Autistica. Maybe one day......

I imagine the country will be inhibitied because of disagreements over who is really autistic.

Like America there will be bitter debate about immigration. If we let NT's in will they use thier social skills to talk thier way into taking Autistic jobs and subvert our values?

What defines country is the ability to unite and the bond based on the feelings of similarity, commonalities such as culture or history. How does it relate to autistic people? Perhaps more important question is why autistic people do not organise to achieve common goals or to lobby for their rights, where they could put their skills to work, before we ever start debating about a theoretical country.

I see a lot of potential among us, and we have this forum, but then why don't we create something to give us all jobs and provide the dream environment?

It would be as dysfunctional as any other country I'm afraid. People are people everywhere, even if they are autistic.

True, but at least it would be that way on our own terms.

As for organising, it is a problem. Getting us together in numbers to work together sounds a bit like trying to herd cats.

How about an internet state, where you pay a "Tax" in the form of a subscription, and get access to autistic specific medical, leisure, housing and employment services. We could make a lot of the employment in the "public services" of our state. Some of you may not be impressed by state healthcare, but I am British so I'm kind of used to it. And no, it isn't great at times.

It would be screwed up even worse than it is now.

Absolutely.

A business. It has been mentioned multiple times on this forum, I just searched it last night and saw that over the last few years many guys had an idea of both launching an ASD friendly company and employing ASD people. There are many of us here who specialise in certain fields and are really good at it. Why not create ASD friendly work environment / system, put these skills to work and make money then?

I have experience of running a company, some resources and a big urge to stop working with NT employees who f**k you in the ass every time you blink, lie, cheat, steal and always think they can be better or think of themselves as the best but in reality cannot even follow and pay attention to simple instructions. If we came up with an idea, I am sure it would be much easier to get resources given our status

probably living in caves

I suspect it would be fractured by the bullying of the self-diagnosed by some of the other-diagnosed.

It would have a symmetrical coastline.
