Should I go back to night school or work overtime?

If I work longer hours I can have more time to practice practice improve at my current position (software tester).

But if I go back to night school I could have a chance to move to a better position within the same organisation (data analytics or the dev teams, etc).

However promotion is not guaranteed and shorter hours / more tiredness may affect my job performance.

I cannot hop for promotion if they think I'm doing a bad job in my current position.

My manager thinks it would be better for me to go through night school but the work counselor thinks longer hours would be better.

(note: if I increase my hours I will lose my welfare payment)

Go to night school.

It would be great to become better at your job through working longer hours.

But you'll lose the welfare payment (I can't believe you actually get money even though you make that decent salary!). And you'll gain a greater amount of skill, and reach a higher tier of skill, through night school.

By the way....congratulations on your new "status."

Go to school. A combination of school and work usually works best for most people.

More work isn't as productive due to the law of diminishing returns.
