Fibonacci poetry
Rules (I like rules):
Fibonacci Poems are written in the pattern of the Fibonacci series.
So that:
Line one has 1 syllable
Line two has 1 syllable
Line three has 2 syllables
Line four has 3 syllables
Line five has 5 syllables
Line six has 8 syllables
And you can add line seven (13 syllables) if you wish.
Again, the pattern is 1, 1, 2, 3, 5, 8
I know there's a name for these, but I don't remember what it is to find you prewritten examples. I do one of two ways, usually. I'll add on a word(s) each line. Or the whole thing makes a story.
No
NO!
No one
No one can
No one can know what?
No one can know what sleeps in hearts
No one can know what sleeps in hearts of those without love
If
Then
Maybe
My choices
Those lost hopes and dreams
They've come back to haunt me again
Look
Here
At us
We're fighting
Why? What for? Let's stop!
What word must be said to calm down?
Forgiveness? It's in the dictionary. Your heart(s) too?
I
don't
want to
be hated
so much, so often
I don't understand what to do
And there is no one to teach me what I need to know
======
Those were examples written to show the rules. I guess I didn't save the rest I had written. Ah, well, certainly not Shakespeare in talent but perhaps we have talent here. Waiting for the right place, the right time, the right rules in order to express themselves.
Monte Hall: "Shakespeare, come on down!"
Give it a whirl. All of you. It may or may not "click" in your mind after a few tries, to the point where you begin to talk to others in Fibonacci or Haiku. LOL!

What?
Nitro2k01: what are you saying?
What does all that mean? Seeds? i? I don't even know what bbcode is. Even my dictionary doesn't know what bbcode is, as it's underlined. My computer is confused too.
However, in the interest of poetry, do your thing. Just tell folks what pattern you're following, so we know, and it might open up ideas for even MORE patterns and MORE people participating because they like the new pattern(s) better.
You could say "forget syllables, let's do words instead, no matter how many syllables". Or just write something and then count the syllables or words after you've written it. I think we can call that latter one "Cat Poetry".
Why Cat Poetry? Ever seen a cat do something clumsy and then look around and they seem to say "I meant to do that". So, do something and give it rules when you're done.
Write. Just write.
I started some specific poetry style threads, so that people could just try out one style (actually, if you looked at the Haiku link, you'll see there are tons of ways to do Haiku). Many folks are familiar with Haiku, and this Fibonacci is a little different but is still syllable counting. Lets people play with words.
Like crossword puzzles, but instead of letters, it's syllables.
Have fun with it.
BBCode is the code you can use in forums to firmat text. For example if you write this: [b]bold[/b] the text will look like this bold.
But my post was not really about that. What I meant was that you can choose any pair of numbers as seeds for a fibonacci series. And the beauty is that the fraction between the values two values, i(n)/i(n-1) approaches (1+sqrt(5))/2, or the golden ratio.
But that wasn't my point either. My point was that if the concept should be called fibonacci poetry for real, you should have the freedom to choose any start values.
Fibonacci Poems are written in the pattern of the Fibonacci series.
I liked this idea, sounds both poetical and mathematical, what seems very natural, also fibonacci's series tend to describe living things, like poems
Is it your own idea to apply this rule to poems?

Nitro2K01, go ahead. Use any values you think work.
Neuromancer: No, I did not start this myself. I read about it last year on another site, and I think they got it from the New York Times. It was supposedly "all the rage" (somewhere, LOL). They called them "FIBS"
This link might work:

Do a search on metacrawler.com for "fibs" fibonacci poems poetry
You'll get lots of things to choose from.
If that jumbo link doesn't work, this is pretty much the same thing:

Here's the wiki entry:

Alternative! You did great.
I think this Fibonacci is a swell way to bring together mathematicians and poets. I have the feeling that Nitro is a mathematician.
This is awesome!! !! !! !! !! !! !! !! !! !! !! !! !! !! !! !! !! !! !! !!
It needs to be moved to fun and games though because people like campin cat mezzanotte and theta in 3d will really love it. Its likely to die here

Hrm ?, this?d be considerably easier if text within [code] tags showed up in a monospaced font.

It might be an idea to work with sets for example 1 1 2 3 5 (+2)
1 1 2 3 5 / 5 3 2 1 1
3 3 6 9 15/15 9 6 3 3
2 2 4 6 10/10 6 4 2 2
So we have palindromic sequences and the second sequence is the first one + 2. The palindromic sequence gives the poetry even more symmetry. The final sequence is a fibonacci sequence derived from the additions required to make the second set from the first 1+2 1+2 3+4 3+6 etc
I wonder if we could implement assonance patterning or metres alongside this. I'll do one when I have time!
Sheer
Steel
Pen nib
Measured hiss
Urgently scrawling
So thats 5 lines (cant be doing with the entire thing) where the assonance patterning is clear. Assonance is basically rhyming with vowel sounds. Noun and vowel constitute an assonance pair because of the ow sound. Ive arranged the assonance in pairs
