Why does WP go offline around midnight?

Every time I'm on WP around midnight eastern time-zone, Cloudflare tells me it's offline & it stays offline for about half an hour or it goes online & offline intermittently for about half an hour. This is kind of annoying & I'm wondering why it does this.

It hits us at around 4a.m. here in the UK. I take it as a sign that I really should have gone to bed by now!

Is someone working to fix this? It's been going on for a while now.

i think, maybe two people have the ability to fix something like that. moderators can't.

someone had the magnificent idea (not sarcasm) and ability to change the captcha to the "not a robot" from the horrendously blurry house numbers, so someone must be aware of that problem.

one of those people is alex. there's another member here who helped do testing and engineering support for the process of moving to this new site...not sure if either of them are aware of this specific issue. some of the mod tools are broken as well.

At the moment, the prospect of more spam filters, are filling my nightmares with endless woe.

The terror attack on Belgium and other recent attacks are what's making the cyber spread worse and sending captcha needles flying into all our blocked cookie post box.
What's worrying me most is the lack of privacy, as the harder a hacker tries to intervene the block on our status, the more it sends this site into disarray and despair.

What we need is some sort of candy whip ap for backlashing all the latest spyware on the malware system.
Instead of coming here, they will be enticed by some logo extension which leads to a block on service bytes.

Have you ever considered that a cron task may be running in order to perform site maintenance may be the cause for downtime at midnight EDT?

If that were the problem then it should not be shutting down not at midnight everywhere, but when it is midnight at the location of the servers. It is just another bug they are are unwilling or unable to fix. It almost seems that they have given up in frustration.
