Well, I am on a brief and minutely money-costing obsessive roll.

Background: about perhaps three months ago, my mother purchased for me one of those blank Italian charm bracelets, along with three links (a Black Onyx link, a Leo link, and my birthstone link). About maybe a month and a half ago, I purchased an Autism Ribbon link off of eBay.

Now: There are 17 links on my bracelet (available spaces that is). I first was wandering about eBay maybe a week ago it was, and saw a double link one which said Aspergers Syndrome/Autism Spectrum Disorders. THIS got me started. Then, after purchasing this, I decided to look around a little more on eBay and see the variety of links available. Well, to make a long story short (too late) I have now obsessively purchased 13 links (well, I am still in the midst of bidding on an additional four). Here is the list of links, in order, which I will have on my bracelet (yes, I have already planned where each new link is going to be placed):

Well, I had a bit of a tantrum today when I came home to find NONE of these in my mailbox. --Okay, it was a fairly big tantrum and I delcared that the mailman was a lazy ass and I hated all mankind (I'm sure my neighbors had fun listening to that).

Anyways, question is: Do any of you do things similar? I mean, I am sure this seems the stupidest obsession (even to me) but I have to have these links and fill up my bracelet. Argh.

Why do I visit forums when I would rather be doing something more interesting? A similar reason, I believe...at least this forum has posts like yours that help me understand other people and myself, rather than useless posts which help me understand nothing.

Why do I know these names? It isn't so interesting anymore...

Maybe I need to grow a bigger wrist.... Hmmmmmmmm....

Well, those are the names of 'elite' Counter-Strike teams, so I guess the lists aren't really comparable. It is a good thing I didn't try to list their rosters, given that they are filled with teenagers who switch teams every few months...

I wonder how similar these are; I seem to be in an inverse situation to yours. You have started an obsession and can't help but pursue it, but you already have lost intellectual interest, and believe you can achieve some finality once you get the bracelet (is this the right interpretation of your words?).

On the other hand, I 'grew out' of obsession with pro-level video games a long time ago. But I still visit their websites & read their articles compulsively, even though I'm not really enthusiastic about them anymore. I wish I was just visiting them 'out of habit', but it actually interferes with my work, as if visiting the sites is a response to mental stress of any kind.

stupid obsessions? oh yeah, definetely. I was obsessed with lavender and lavender scented things, the language of flowers, etc. Oooh! online dating sites is another one! I'm sure there are lots more, I just need to think!

I'm obsessed with bunches of Grapes memerabillia. That's pretty stupid.

I have papaer mache grapes on my wall, about 3 other bunches of grapes in my room, a grapes broach, a glass grapes, Grapes stickers, ect ect.

I dam* my psychology professor for obessing me with the psychology of color. . . . .She said that whenever a person wears a shirt, the color that person picks indicates the needs and wants of the person, now I can't stop noticing the color of everyone's shirt and attempting to deduce what they want. . .arghh!!

Hehehe prometh. Psychology is 1 hell of a confusing subject.

It was during the time of my birth that the psychology of color became HUGE. And so she read that the best color for babies, the most soothing (or something to that extent), was YELLOW-- a cool yellow. Not like sunflower yellow.

So. My ENTIRE nursery was yellow. Furniture, blankets, pillows, EVERYTHING. With some added dashes of color about the room of course. But it was YELLOW CENTRAL.

I look back and can conclude I would have either grown up to despise the color yellow, or to love it. Thankfully, I am very fond of yellow to this day

Ooh, PS: I just won the X-Files link on eBay! YAY! (Only three more items to go.)

Update: Lost the bid on the Four Seasons charm. In its place, I decided to purchase a Scottish Flag charm instead.

One more charm down, and still one to go... the Frank Sinatra charm. I am determined as hell to win this one.

Not stupid! My house looks like a strawberry garden...

I was never really into girly things when I was young, but for some reason I liked Strawberry Shortcake. Whoda thunk?

This reminds me of a very different sort of "obsession". My mind has a near-constant internal jukebox, like I hear music and it relates to what is going on, but I sometimes pick up on what is going on after I hear the music.

For instance, just now after reading what you wrote it was playing that song:

If you wear red tonight...
Remember what I said tonight...

etc.

A sort-of final update on the possibly-ongoing charm bracelet saga: I have now won my final charm off of eBay. Frank Sinatra. And am now awaiting the arrival of all the fruits of my obsessive labor.
