I have never seen the entire series but I caught an episode once and thought it was pretty funny. It was called "Pinned To The Mat". My favorite character was Screech from what I saw. Comic relief nerds rock!

Screech is also my favourite character. He's the ultimate Aspie character.

I remember that show was aired when I was in primary school, I didn't watched it because I prefer cartoons, but my classmates talked about it on school.

This show could almost be considered the flagship show for syndicated After School and Saturday morning teenaged sitcoms (other shows that fit this category include One World, Hang Time, City Guys, California Dreams etc). When it first aired I was a little kid and my teenaged sister would make me watch it.(It aired during good stuff like American Gladiators and WWF Superstars :? ) Then when I got a little older I started watching the reruns that aired after school because I didn't have cable and it was either watch that or Oprah or something. I always thought it was a cheezy show and I really don't remember many episodes. Most girls I know remember crazy details about the show like who dated who and other parts of each individual character's storyline. Most guys I know just remember how funny Screech was and A.C. Slater's Mullet/Jehri Curl (what kind of hairstyle was it?).

This show had all the ingredients needed for any program geared towards teens: A cast filled with social class, ethnic, and peer group variety (the jock, the nerd, the popular girl/guy, the girl next door, the rich girl), scripts with plots that tackled issues high school students go through (whether to drink on prom night, have sex, smoke cigarettes, taking the SATs, skipping class, etc.), a goofy and naive authority figure (the not so cleverly named "Mr. Bellding"), and corny one liners that only the "studio audience" seemed to find amusing. (not sure if they taped live or used a laugh track) For the most part, most of the before mentioned shows followed this formula with a slight variation in setting (for example City Guys was set in the big city of New York instead of by the beach in Malibu) but the overall ideas where the same. Some of the scripts are extremely identical and some internet research would probably reveal that these shows had some of the same writers and/or producers. (I may be wrong)

It's hard for me to say that I didn't like the show after such a long post about it. So I'll just say that it goes into my long list of guilty pleasures. Yes, sometimes I watch cheezy teen sitcoms:lol:

I used to watch that, City Guys and some other of those American shows when I was little; they even made a Saved by the Bell film where Zac married the girl (can't remember her name). More recently, they made a new series called Saved by The Bell: The new class where Screech was an assistant to Mr Bellding, but it wasn't as kitsch or funny (or perhaps I was just too old by then to appreciate the sheer inanity)

I loved this show as a kid, and still do. Yes, its corny at times, but its also a desperately-needed relief from all the politically-correct, dumbed-down "entertainment" geared at kids today. If I had kids, I'd rather they watch "Saved By the Bell" or "Looney Tunes" instead of "Barney & Friends" or "Spongebob Squarepants" any day.

I was 9 years old when the show started, and one of my first celebrity crushes was Tiffani Thiessen as "Kelly Kapowski". All the characters were great, and I wanted to be Zack Morris so I could get away with anything and date the "girl next door". One of my favorite episodes was called "Miss Bayside", where Screech actually ends up running in (and winning!) a school beauty/popularity contest.

I recently bought the "Complete Collection" boxset on DVD, but sadly, the episodes are out of order. There's also no Bonus Features listing on the menus, so the only way to find commentary tracks for any episode is by selecting the title, and hoping it doesn't play right away. There's also no way to return to the Main Menu while an episode is playing, which means you have to use the Chapter Skip...unless you hit Play All, which means you have to stop and restart the whole disc! :(

Technical insanity aside, this is still one of my favorite shows; long live Bayside High's class of 1993! :)
