That last shot was just so cool with the Ditko skylight. Looks all mind bendy too :)

I've read Doctor Strange since the earliest comics; it's one of my favorite Marvel titles. However, I'm not pleased with this movie. Yes, it looks "cool", but I don't care much for Cucumber as Dr. Strange or Swinton as the Ancient One. She is great, but I don't like the whitewashing.

I get the 'white washing with Swinton' and agree. So many better actors or actresses that would have fit the character, even if it was still a change in gender. I mean...yer gonna go with a Asian character turned into a woman....and you don;t get Michelle Yeoh?

BAstiches......

I've only seen Cumberbund as Khan and found him to be very melodramatic. And, honestly, he's got the weirdest mouth I've ever seen. Actually, I'm kinda bewildered as to the hoopla about how handsome he is. But, I honestly think that Strange would require a bit of that English thespianism to run around shouting about the crimson bands of cyttorak or the all seeing eye of Agamotto.

Think about it..Patrick Stewart and Ian McKellan can't do it all by themselves.....

Yes! Michelle Yeoh would have been amazing in the role. Or Bai Ling, who just doesn't get enough roles despite her amazing acting skills...probably my favorite for the role. They obvious have some priorities, and being faithful to the comic and being socially aware weren't on their list.

Yes, he is very melodramatic; his voice is great, but I just don't like his look either -- his eyes are positively bovine. Besides, Strange is American, and Cucumber does a terrible American accent. But I can't think of a single actor who I'd like in the part. Maybe they should have genderbent Strange, too.

True, but I think they will probably keep all the finger waving and invocation to a minimum (unfortunately). I almost don't want to know how they will explain away all of the magic. Quantum mechanics!

I did hear him speak a bit in the trailer. No difficulties with the accent for me.

BUT!! Some of the promos I've seen have him doing the Ditko finger poses. And that is crucial to the physical embodiment of the character. That's why I had a mini geekgasm with the Ditko Skylight shot. And, the costume looks good with the Eye of Agamotto looking especially cool.

The magic scenes they did show seem to keep that Ditko 'bendy reality' thing too.

I'm definitely going to see this and make a judgement then. Just like Everybody jumping on Affleck being Batman. From the reviews (critics and viewers) he's the best thing in the movie.

So....gonna give this a shot.

But, so far, the absolutely best Superhero movie adaptation is 'Deadpool'.

I don't care if Dr. Strange will be a good movie or a bad movie, I'll see it when it opens in November.

That sounds like me. There are some movies I will see just for the eye candy alone. Transformers...horrible, horrible movies....but oh so much stupid fun and the animations and eye candy.....sigh......

But, I will see it just to check it out. THEN I will say if I think it is good or not.

I'll have to look up the other promos to see how they did the finger poses and what not.

I just love to hate on superhero movies and Cucumber. But I'll definitely watch the movie when it comes out, too. I just can't resist Doctor Strange.

I only knew Doctor Strange from the video game Marvel Ultimate Alliance, but I like Benedict Cumberbatch. Should be interesting.

I haven't read any Doctor Strange, but his origin story intrigues me. I'm really looking forward to this movie.

I'm with Arkatron on Cumberpatch. I like Benny, but he's not physically/visually Dr. Strange.

Outside of his weird facial features (squirrely eyes, oddest mouth ever....well, not THE oddest) I think he does look like the early drawings in most regards. It would have been helpful if they had made the facial hair a bit more prominent as that is part of the design.

But, for some reason, he's considered quite the hottie. I don't get it.

Finger pose!!

I get that. I'm still willing to give it a shot though.

I mean, who thought Paul Rudd would be convincing as a superhero?

Yeah, I mean, I'll watch it. Comic movies are about the only movies I'm into anymore-- I feel myself deteriorating into a child sometimes, lol. But I have an excuse: I was forbade from comics when I was child, so this is an opportunity to take back some of my childhood. Lol, I can rationalize and justify with the best of them!
