I've heard some people say that it is. A teacher I had once complained to a student that she was cussing when she said "that's a bunch of crap".

Back in the day George Carlin quipped "I got banned from Los Vegas for saying "s**t" in a town where the hottest game is called 'craps'!".

Some think it is. I grew up with that word. My mom would call things crap meaning it's junk and she would call our stuff crap meaning it's a mess and it's laying all over. She also called useless things crap. I was told it was a bad word as a child but not everyone thinks it's a bad word so it must be a cultural thing or a personal feeling thing.

"crap" is often used as a euphemism or milder alternative for "s**t". While it has the same meaning, it is considered milder than the word "s**t".

I was always brought up being told it was a swear word. According to my parents it's actually stronger than the S word (thought it was the other way round myself). I don't know if that's just a British thing.

Crap is milder than s**t, and has a broader meaning.

Some people think it is, some think it isn't. It's not a nice-sounding word, IMO.

The other day I was telling my mom about the video I'd seen about some of the ugliest mascots ever created, and The stop-motion animated California Raisins. And I actually allowed myself to say they looked like "purple... turds". With the pause before turds.
She got kind of grossed out, especially with us eating at the time. But a lot of people say s**t all the time, even when eating. For example, "For lunch I had burgers and s**t". Now that is gross. :eew:

You just reminded me of this:

Shooter McGavin: You're in big trouble though, pal. I eat pieces of s**t like you for breakfast!
Happy Gilmore: [laughing] You eat pieces of s**t for breakfast?
Shooter McGavin: [long pause] No!

For those who think crap is a cuss word: be glad you never knew my mother. Considering how badly she was abused by her drunken father growing up, her mouth was enough to make extremely drunken Russian, American, British and Norse sailors blush.

Depends on where you are.
Schools around my neck of the would allow it.

Does that make it ok?

Perhaps.

I don't see it as a cuss word.
