Private messages stuck in Outbox?

Today I have sent two messages and instead of these messages going into my sent items, they seem to be stuck in the Outbox, which hasn't happened before. Is there a way so they can go into the sent items? I've sent a new message and its still stuck, this has never happened before.

They are not stuck in your outbox. The recipient just hasn't read them yet. Once they've been read, they will no longer be in your outbox.
