My mother brought my dad's resume to this guy that wanted to help my dad get a job. Mom was helping at Bingo so it was convenient for her to deliver the resume because this guy helps at Bingo too. This guy accused my dad of not trying hard enough to get a job. This guy said my dad was hard to get to know. My dad is quiet , but if he is given a chance he will open up. People generally don't give him a chance. This guy also bragged about how his resume would intimidate my dad. This guy likes to go around acting like he is better than everybody. This guy also said that my dad should put his transferrable skills on a spreadsheet. All my dad's skills are on his resume. This guy also asked my mother to tell him this. She is tired of people going through her to tell my dad stuff. People need to just call him themselves. This guy suggested that my dad work at Walmart or be a custodian. Dad is overqualified for that. He is an electronics technician. This guy basically bashed my dad. This guy is lucky I refuse to have anything to do with Bingo. I would have told him off. Mom was pretty pissed about the whole thing. What do you all think?

I would have gone off on the prick if I had gone out there tonight. I didn't want to listen to people insult my dad all night. I have had to deal with a lifetime of people insulting my family.

Hey little pixie. The chap sounds like he has the social skills of a middle schooler. What type of man says this to someone else's wife? Your mum seems very patient. Think he needs a visit from Bonnie Plunket.

There are ways of putting people in their place without directly telling them off. That's probably what I would have tried to do. There are always going to be jerks like that in the world, so it's best to learn how to deal with them. I'm not the best at it myself, but I am working on it.

That guy sounds like he would be terrible to work for because he has the mentality of a schoolyard bully. That scum isn't worth your time. Your father is probably better off working for someone that will respect him and value his skillset.

Sounds to me like he was trying to make your dad look small for your mom's benefit. Like a schoolyard bully picking on a dude so the girls will think he's cool.

He's also absolutely wrong. It would be weird to put skills in a spreadsheet. No one would look at that. If anyone had sent me a spreadsheet of skills when I was working as a manager, I would have 1) laughed, 2) told everyone else about it so they could laugh too, and 3) put the resume attached to this spreadsheet in the trash.

There's nothing wrong with being quiet. Lots of people appreciate reserved personalities. Someone is out there looking for someone with your dad's skills and personality. He'll happen upon that opportunity that's right for him and the company will be glad they found him.

At least this guy isn't pretending to be a Christian right? Is this bingo on an Indian Reservation?

What's there to think about? The guy is obviously a complete blowhard jerk. I would not listen to anything he says or take one bit of advice from him.

The first thing I would recommend is getting in touch with a Black Magic Specialist such as baba ji :ninja: .....JUST KIDDING.

But I wonder if this encounter , knowing what this person is about, was a good idea? There must have been a good reason your mother trusted this person?

Do you think this uneducated person actually meant to help (?) and this person's own pomposity and ignorance just gets in the way? Was this person at least trying to be honest and just didn't have a clue?

Or do you think this was just this person's usual way toward self aggrandizement, and just likes to "lower" people to make themselves appear larger? (Whether he realizes this fact about himself or not.)

P.S. I'm quiet too.
