Hello everyone,

I am pretty sure I have high functioning Asperger's that has
gone undiagnosed for almost a half a century. There seems to
be an ADD/OCD component to this. I am totally new to all this
and have no idea on how or where to get any kind of help or
support. I am a 50 year old hetero woman who has never been
married, and I have had about like 4 dates in my whole life.
I love reading, computers and rpg games. I tend to gravitate
toward drama and music as my "obsessions" I have never felt
I fit in anywhere. I seem to like the IDEA of romance better than
the actual reality of it. I have a condition which has been dubbed
4S (Selective Sound Sensitivity Syndrome.) When I learned
that one fo the "symptoms" of Aspergers is a sensitivity to sound.

Finding a job. The eye contact thing seems to make people nervous
when I go on job interviews. I am afraid to tell them I might have
Aspergers since I have never been formally diagnosed. Plus they
might not want to hire me if they knew that? Not sure if this is the
right place to be, since I am not a child or young adult. Sometimes
I just feel like a sitting duck. I tend to be fairly optimistic but as
have gotten older I seem to feel more vulnerable, and a bit more
depressed too. It would be so nice to just be around people who GET
me, and not feel they have to change me or fix me, and worst of all
that I am weird.

Welcome to WP, DaQwerk. :D
There are other older people here as well so you should find plenty of people you can relate to.
I like computers too.

Welcome! I'm realtivly new here too. I'm 50+ and less vulnerable now, optimistic, and stay away from depressive thoughts... "Life" is just getting started!! ! Never too late...

Hanging out here in the "playpen" helps too. Serious stuff also goes on...

Good luck!

hello!

I am new too. I know there are older people around, so you are not alone. I hope this places helps you as I see it has helped others here. There is a whole world to connect to through the internet, so I hope you don't feel so alone. Music is my life and has pulled me up and kept my head above water so many times. If you would ever like to talk about music, I am here!
