That's not really easy for us. One on one, I can pass as NT for short periods.....but career depot person suggested that I use networking skills.....I've tried that. Doesn't really work. In groups of people, I'm overlooked and ignored.

Yeah...I'm pretty bad at networking, too .

If I find the topic of conversation boring, I tend to withdraw, rather than engage.

I don't think I've really tried. It's too overwhelming. Trying to find a friend is hard enough and really I think networking is kind of the same skill set isn't it?
But it is true. Ive got my job because someone who knew me recommended me. That's hands down the best way to get a job.

You might be fortunate, Beady, to be one of those people whom people like, even though you don't actively network.

That person who recommended you probably saw talent in you, rather than "connections."

Yeah Kraftie, I've seen marginally qualified people land plush positions by being able to "politic like no tomorrow" and put on the charm. At my previous volunteer commitment, I couldn't get any traction with the powers that be to get hired on when positions came open. It wasn't my lack of experience or ability. I was passed over. I eventually walked away.
