Bose QuietComfort 25 headphones, hissing/static noise

I recently bought a pair of Bose noise cancelling headphones and I am wondering if anyone has had the same problem as me. Even without the audio cable connected, I am hearing a low noise, kind of like static or a low hissing sound. Is this normal for noise cancelling headphones or is it a faulty product?
If anyone has fixed a similar issue please let me know.

you are young and your hearing is still acute. it is normal to hear this noise from these headphones, I have a pair of bose NC cans also and hear this noise. I have heard it on all NC cans I've tried. I take it as a sign that the phones are functioning, and when I don't hear that noise I can tell the batteries are expended. so there is a utility to it.
