I personally like that there are other autism-related forums out there. (True ones.) I wouldn't necessarily call them "knockoffs." That's like calling any fast food joint that came after McDonald's "knockoff fast food." There was another forum related to metaphysical things that I frequented, that was owned by one of the largest spiritual selling sites on the web, and several years after they opened, tons of other people jumped on the metaphysical selling bandwagon to offer their own services, me being one of them. Yet in no way am I a knockoff, because I offer my own unique services, just as other forums offer their own unique input, have their own unique rules, and their own people. Just because something cropped up after a bigger and much more widely known site started doesn't always make it less.

One thing I have noticed on some of the others is that sometimes members who have been banned from WP for not paying any heed to repeated informal and formal warnings, can and do migrate to other forums where (occasionally) they turn over a new leaf and settle in peaceably.

I think it's great that people have different options to read or join ASD forums run by ASD people for ASD people. This is where I want to be, and the only such forum where I have a membership, though different strokes/different folks and that they all reflect ASD perspectives on ASD matters from the inside out is a wonderful thing. The more voices, wherever they are, the better IMO.

Asperclick

This is a support organization not a web forum but it is run by Aspies for Aspie/HFA
GRASP

The more websites are run by autistics for autistics the better. Monopolies stifle competition and diversity.

I really don't mind other forums, particularly smaller ones.

WP has its uses but I feel I don't get as much of a friendly/homey connection here as smaller forums purely because there's so many posters. That's a good thing in that it's active but a bad thing in that there's less individual connection between users.

Also hopefully it drives site staff to updating WP - the forum software on this forum is ancient compared to newer sites i.e Asperclick

Not really knockoff, but you might like this one. It doesn't have all the bugs, CAPTCHA, and other issues.
