I don't like the idea of a cure, i would never go to the extremes Aspies for Freedom have done. But AS makes us who we are. It gives us a unique perspective and view of the world, and i love being different to everyone else. Why would you want to fit in when you were born to stand out? of course, i am not saying don;t try to fit in, as building a nice social circle does work wonders, but trying to cure Autism would makethis world less diverse and cause all of us to die inside.
it's hard to describe, but if you want a better idea of what it might be like, go and watch X-Men 3 and just substitute Mutants for aspies and you see what i mean

Perhaps a pill for the adult autistics would not be feasable. But who would not want to lessen the severity of the non-beneficial effects of autism? Such might not be so far off. If there are some contributing factors other than wiring, you could not construe their control as being a fundamental change to your self. If you were force-fed a pill all your life you've not been aware of, would you cease taking it given the opportunity?

I could cope fine. I don't need a cure. The only reason I don't 'socialise' is because I hardly know anyone near my home, which is a result of being isolated from them by The System. Well, I know some of them, but not well enough to make regular contact with them, and I don't share interests.
What are the negative aspects of autism, and what are the positives? That's the first question anyone looking to change it should ask.

Someone back in the thread mentioned a Nanobot colony erasing the autism and replacing it with a shiny new plastic NT soul. One problem anyone trying to implemment that would have: the Aspies would probably be in control of the nanobots.
If you can turn someone from Autie to Ntie, it stands to reason that you can change them from Ntie to Autie...
