Gastro Issues
Gastro issues are a known common problem among those on the spectrum.
I'm curious if there is anyone here who can relate to what I've got going on:
•Eosinophilic Esophagitis (allergic to almost all food)
•Gastritis
•Colitis
My duodenum is good! Yay duodenum!

Ulcerative colitis, often very acute, in remission now for quite a while.
I'm fairly careful in what I eat, once I was able to wean myself away from all of the "heavy duty" medications...especially the anti-rejection drugs.
The plan I used was in a book called: "Breaking the Vicious Cycle" (Intestinal Health Through Diet) by Elaine Gottschall B.A., M.Sc.
This stopped the colitis well enough and long enough that I was able to make dietary and pharmaceutical adjustments and break free of that awful awful ailment.
I get quite constipated quite a bit but I think that's the medication I take (it's a listed side effect). So, not for me.

I'll be looking into this book some time.
I can't tell what's what, since every part is acting up. But, right now, I'm concentrating on getting something to stay in me and on not come straight back out.

I have stomach issues when hungry. If I let myself get too hungry, I develop a painful acidic stomach, uncomfortable hollowness, a dry mouth, and bad nausea. It sometimes feels like my stomach is touching and rubbing against itself. Ouch!
But I am not intolerant to any food. I only seem to be intolerant against hunger. So if I had to fast one day, um....

My mother has Crohn's Colitis.
She's in semi-remission now.
Glad your Mom is in, at least, semi-remission. So sad.......Crohn's is serious; it can kill you.
I hope she can get to full remission soon; hang in there.
Have you had a check-up lately?
I get very painfully bloated sometimes and food rolls back up my throat. And often just feel swollen and bloated all over. I think it's a food allergy - and/or casein intolerance or maybe histamine intolerance - but I still haven't narrowed down exactly what it is. My cravings for certain foods are so strong it's hard to stop eating them, even when I know I might be allergic.
Don't feel bad, Dianthus. My trigger foods are my cravings too, and I haven't been able to stop even though I've been trying since I was little. All I can do is save my willpower for my bad days and try to indulge sparingly on good days to avoid binging later.
I have Ulcerative Colitis ft dysplasia that no one recognizes. It was the first thing I got diagnosed with. My guts run at warp speed (even for someone with UC) and I have metabolism issues that I'm not 100% certain the cause of.
Oh and somehow I'm NOT lactose or gluten intolerant. It can never be something normal with me.

I lost 30 pounds in few months due to colitus in the early '90's. Any type of trip even to work was scary, sometimes extremely uncomfortable, and subject to interruption. It was really bad for about 3 years of so. It very gradually went away over the next decade or two.

My autism is not a superpower. It also isn’t some kind of god-forsaken, endless fountain of suffering inflicted on my family. It’s just part of who I am as a person. - Sara Luterman
I used to have some, but they were psychosomatic and caused by stress from work.
With that stressful job gone, so are the symptoms.
I didn't realise this at first and heavily experimented with my diet, trying to see if eliminating certain foods had any effect. Coffee, dairy, bread, apples, nothing mattered, of course.

I've had digestive issues all my life. Over the last few years I've had even more crop up. I don't really know what's wrong and the local gastroenterology practice has been no help. The first specialist I saw didn't even pay attention to me and just threw their fancy new pills at me, which did very little.
I switched to a different doctor in the same practice and he was only slightly better. He at least listened but he was convinced it was "all in my head" even before examining me. He even told me that I was too young and they never find anything wrong in people my age (~30). I did get an upper endoscopy done, which didn't find anything. After hear the results and his "told you so" attitude, I just kind of gave up and didn't bother with the other tests. I admit, I was also kind of scared of having some of them done.
I do have a new primary care doctor now so we're starting to explore this stuff again. I'd love to know what's going on because it's quite annoying. If I eat too much, I'm miserable. If I eat too little, I'm miserable. If I eat just the right amount, there still a chance I'll be miserable. It stinks! I've lost a lot of weight. People tell me that I look good and I'm tempted to respond that I felt a LOT better back when I weighed more.

I have Gastro parisis, and have a stomach pacemaker for it.
i was also born with a unique eating problem, seriously, there was an entire medical discussion between loads of doctors and surgeons about me.
basically, theres a valve on your stomach, it lets food out or in (one at the top lets them in, bottom one lets them out) mine had a second one growing into it, which means i couldn't actually process food, they did every test they could think of, they couldn't figure it out, until they operated on me to do a stomach bypass and discovered the whole valve thing, they instead removed the valve and i was okay for a year, but then the whole gastro parisis thing started after that year, and the hospital stuff began again. basically had the whole stomach valve thing from when i was about 8, till i was 10, then it was a year, i went to high school, got the gastro parisis thing, till i was 14 then got the pacemaker. means i still can't eat some foods, i don't do things like wheat very well, and sometimes i just can't tolerate random things haha.
im kind of glad they discovered it in that first one as i was kind of....dying....slowly. my body just couldn't take in food, so i was getting thinner and thinner and thinner, wasting away, i don't know how my parents managed to keep calm and normal around me, but they did (but not when i wasn't present)
