Coldest night so far -- down to 45ºF.

Saw a rabbit and a marten run in my grandparents yard. I love their place in the middle of the forest, it's so peaceful.

Kinglets and White-throated Sparrows down by the river, and a beautiful vee of geese overhead.

A rat chewing under the house.
The snakes must be gone for the season.
About a million black walnuts in the yard.
Packs of hounds roaming thru the woods.

the usual clear night skies on the cold clear nights, the mist that comes in on the cloudy nights.

I get to wear a jacket outside!
And it’s nighttime at 7:00.

The Rose-Breasted Grosbeaks appear for a few days, on their migration south for the winter.

I saw so many yesterday, more than I have in years.It was beautiful.

There's lots of leaves on the ground.

When the still green leaves are covered in frost/snow and the temperature suddenly drops. Maybe some fog.
Then it doesn't snow much till spring leaving a cold gray colorless ground. Fall is short.

Jack o’lantern mushrooms in the woods and I saw a gaggle of Canada Geese coming in for a landing in a pasture.
