It's taken me a while to admit it, but I really have little sense of fashion whatsoever. I'm either trying to hard to look normal (which only ends up backfiring), or trying to look avant-garde in my style, but this just makes me look like a dork or a hipster, or perhaps a bit of both

Basically, I sometimes fail hard when trying to choose what to wear. Are people in the ASD population (autism/aspergers) prone to looking like a "fashion-disaster" from time to time? Quite a lot of these people dress with out-of-date items like trench coats, fedoras, leather jeans etc.

How is your dress-sense? I'm trying to work on making mine a bit more dignified. I mean I cringe when thinking back to some of the stuff I've worn in the past.

I wouldn't say so. Granted, I never put too much thought into my clothing, but I do have an eye for aesthetics, which helps in not looking like a disaster. :P

I don't think so...I usually wear t-shirts of metal bands and whatever pants or cut off shorts aren't dirty. And I might include leather wristbands and/or my patch vest.

Of course I have no idea about current fashions and clothing trends or stuff like that, can't say I really care about it either.

I've been told by my family that a lot of the things I wear don't "go" together. I like long skirts and sneakers and I'll wear navy blue pants with black shirts, which my mom says don't go together. I've also been told I dress "old" which I don't understand.

I can't afford to wear anything but clothes I wore in HS. They still fit since I lost a decent amount of weight, theyr'e gettin old though. I can't stand them for the most part. Usually just jeans, plaid shirts and plain colored t shirts. My sense of dress is terrible. If I ever get a job one of the first things I'll do is actually wear pants with an inseem that isn't down to my knees since I still have the junk pants my mother bought from HS....

<--- All of his clothes, every last stitch, was donated. Since he only has one pair of pants, one pair of shoes, one sweater, two t-shirts and one coat, he has to wear the same thing every day, which he's done for months.

I tried looking less like a dork and more like a hipster but ended up only looking like a dorkster. :|

I don't know if I have a "poor fashion sense", but it is definitely different, and very young for my age. I always wear t-shirts with cartoon characters or animals on them, overalls (of which I have six pairs), or capri pants in the summer, and I have two pairs of shoes, one pair of pink Converse that I wear every day, and one pair of purple Crocs that I wear during the summer. I have been known to wear odd clothing as well though. When I was about 14 I went through a phase where I wore a homemade fleece scarf with patches on it everywhere I went, even in the sweltering heat of summer. During seventh grade, I had a plaid button-down collared shirt that had embroidered chickens on it. I pulled it out of a pile of clothes my mom was putting out for a garage sale. I wore it unbuttoned over my regular t-shirts every single day that year. Most recently I made a blue and pink hood (just the hood, no sweater or cloak or anything) with wolf ears and a tail, and I've taken to wearing that everywhere as well. I like how it covers my face and blocks my peripheral vision from visual overload, but it's cute and funny enough to make me not look like a hoodlum while wandering around with a hood up.

I guess I don't "dress my gender" from what I've been told. I wear loose baggy long graphic-t design t-shirts and jeans or leggings with boots. People tell me I'd look more girly and get more compliments if I wore tighter and nicer clothes. Which I have a few nice outfits just not as many stander look. I also wear a lot of shirts that don't have v necks and apparently those are girly too and would help make me look better. This is just what I've been told personally I think clothes should just be clothes and not have genders.

Tbh I just want to wear clothes that make me happy and don't draw attention to my weight. That's why I wear so many baggy outfits.

Yes.

I have no clue what's trendy, what's fashion and what's out. I rank clothing choices in this order: is it comfortable? Do I like the way it looks? Do the colors or patterns clash In My Opinion? Would it be appropriate to wear this where I'm going? And does NTHubby like it?

After that--there's really nothing. The question of whether some rockin' celebrity would wear this never occurs to me. The question of whether The Set (or whatever you'd call the popular people, the in-crowd) would approve never crosses my mind.

A hoopy frood I am not.

Fortunately at work there is a dress code and the shirts are supplied. We are even told what color to wear each weekday. Skirts/slacks are up to the individual but there are guidelines about color and, to a certain extent, style. Same with shoes. So I don't have to worry about being out of fashion at work. Most of the rest of places I go are casual, except church. And they're supposed to love me unconditionally, so if they're judging the way I dress it is on them not on me!

For the most part yes, I think. For years I didnt care because I was married and my wife didnt care much. And I was really out of shape. Now being single and a little less out of shape, I find I'm actually thinking about what I'm putting on my body. Except, I have no idea how it's 'supposed' to look. I do know I tend to wear clothes that are way too big. I've always just liked that, and I hate anything even remotely tight. But over the years I've understood my idea if 'tight' is not at all what it is to most people. This looks bad from what I'm told. And now I have to care what I look like...

 I'm sitting here in a shirt that is at least 20 years old right now. I still have a few from way back when. Freakin love it when they hold up and don't become see through. Heh.

I dunno if my dress sense sucks or not. I know that I do not dress like most of the people I see but I'm not sure if I'm a walking disaster or not. I've never been a person who seems to be wearing what other people wear, but I never much minded that either. I just kinda do my thing. The only people who ever give me crap for my clothes are my biological daughters. The one calls me a hipster and the other will ask me now and then, "Are you really wearing that?". My step son and step daughter are both fine with how I dress though. They both borrow my clothing. I guess for me it depends on who you ask.
