I can't help but wonder if the person who decided that such devcices as CD and DVD players should have a "Repeat A-B" button was an aspie.

As I sit here, I have part of a DVD I watching on repeat and can't help but think in amazement that the repeat button on my remote is the most used button on my DVD remote.

There must be other-such things out there in the world that while seemingly insignificant in the lives of others, but much joy to our lives.

If you can think of them, please list them.

I love closed captioning too. Sometimes I can't hear, but most of the time it just helps me understand it better. I always have captions or subtitles on. Hearing just the spoken word is very vague/analog/imprecise/ambigious, and rather than having to try to figure out the context or skip back on a show (TiVo) to see what they said, I can just read the words. Gotta love it.

Computers

Noise-cancelling headphones

Mid-80s Buick Riviera/Olds Toronado. They had touch screens in the dash, almost 20 years ago. It used electronics to do all kinds of things that normal people would either not notice or consider pointless, but I think are cool. For instance, if it's light out (as determined by a photocell in the dash), it doesn't turn the dome lights on when you open the door, since obviously there's no need for them during the day. A friend had one, and the oil pressure sensor went bad. At first the screen displayed a "low oil pressure" error, but after driving for 50 miles or so the computer realized that there's no way it'd still be running if there really was no oil pressure, so the message switched to "electrical problem detected". With those kinds of details, I'm positive those cars were largely developed by aspies.

I've been yearning for some noise canceling headphones but I have only $100 in my bank account.

Anyway, my contribution: variety packs. For those of us who can't make the life-upheaving commitment to one flavor of granola bar for a few weeks.

Ah! By George! What about the
paper clip? Now that is not a
normal invention and how
singular in use, unless you own
a Mac and then it ejects you
floppy or zip.

By-Sherlock? What a idea?

Hmmmmm?

The ability to repeat someting on a DVD is great for watching extremely graphic scenes in slow motion, repeat it again, and watch it frame-by-frame!

I also like close captionning.
The repeat button on my remote control is broken
Sunglasses are very useful
I am sure I will find other things to add to the list.

I've played around with captioning, but I'd rather have it off becasue if I have it on, I find myself watching nothing but the captioning.

The paper clip is a Norwegian invention that we Norwegians are very proud of :P
In elementary school we also learn that a Norwegian invented the "Ostehøvel", which is a device for slicing cheese. This year we also celebrate our houndred year of independence from Sweden, which is why I am posting these patriotic remarks

True.... maybe invented by a photosensitive aspie who wasn't bothered about the buzzing, so couldn't see why anyone else would be?
