well... if you are a white male living in california you are discriminated against often and early (yes, california). Through 'affirmative action' ... that is, if you are a race other than white you are given preference into schools and jobs. This is simply racist. What about immigrants and the children of immigrants who seek equality in america (such as myself) who are, for no reason, treated poorly because we are *white*. Neither I, nor my family, ever did anything to anyone. Why should I and those who are like me be punished under such circumstances in a place like california which claims to have equality?
People should be judged on the merits of their charcter and actions. Not on race or ethnicity. When you grow up in a place where you are treated by non-whites like you are privledged and the cause of all their problems, you cannot help scratch your head and think why you are blamed for their problems when you are the one who is treated poorly by the state. Does being white magically bestow money upon you or status? It certainly did not for my family. It was all attained through hard work and sacrifice (alot of it).
This may be why, at least white people in california / america etc, feel like they are treated like trash because they are white -- and for that reason alone. We have to sit through all kinds of 'cultural sensitiivity' crap for no reason. As someone who attended a school where white males were the minority and was singled out, picked on, and hurt because of this (the AS didn't help) I find people's whinning about white people ridiculous. We should all be treated equally and drop any preference on the basis of skin color or ethnicity. This is what this country is supposed to uphold. But it california it does not complements of those who want 'diversity'.
This is why some white people feel resentment toward others when white people are the ones being shafted and others are given preferential treatment. When there is a disproportionate amount of crime commited by minorities against white people (and in my case being picked on by them due to my white skin), you cannot expect whites to be able to fully view others are equals when whites are not given this right in california. I resist all forms of racism and I condemn it when I come across it, but at times it is difficult to convince others to stop their rants or to revise their views when their grievances are real and not imagined.
