Strong Sense of Self?
What is a strong sense of self? Do any of you struggle with it?

What is it? I hear often people with BPD or Stalkers tend to not have it. They feel "Empty" in the sense that they themselves are no one. They find this person (or people ) who they idealize, but then hate when they realize they can never have them.
They need the person to "fill them." Kind of a wierd idea I know

I really don't know a lot about the neurology of it, seems like it's a topic on the cutting edge and from what at least one article I saw indicated it has to do with dopamine-GABA regulated gamma networks.
I have a very strong sense of self-awareness but I think I struggle with it a lot less based on some of the ways I've found to work with it. Suffice to say if you have high self-awareness you'll find most of the pain, friction, and turmoil you have with the world ultimately coming from within your own awareness rather than being external - and you'll notice that just in how much things will bother you that wouldn't bother other people. I found that striking up a truce required advanced strategies in how I dealt with subjective processing as well as the impulses that came up from my subconscious processes. I'm not sure how you'd want to approach that; Carl Jung is probably one of the best known psychologists of the 20th century for dealing with self-integration (one of the best strategies for eliminating internal suffering) but his works are a bit cerebral.
