Who do you think should direct now that Affleck has taken his name off of the shortlist?

I think David Fincher or Darren Aronofsky would be the best candidates to direct. Their directorial styles are very similar to Christopher Nolan's and both are capable of keeping drama in balance with action.

At one point, Aronofsky was set to direct a Batman: Year One movie before WB gave the green-light to Christopher Nolan to direct Batman Begins.

As for Ben Affleck, if WB is desperate to keep him as a director for a DCEU film, they should give him a script for a possible Batman Beyond movie, have him review it, and if he likes it, WB should allow him to direct it.

^^

Many articles have mentioned that JJ Abrams is now focusing on more original films he wants to direct instead of big-budget franchise films, so it's unlikely Abrams will direct Man Of Steel 2.

Alfonso Cuaron or Guillermo Del Toro would be good choices to direct Man Of Steel 2, given that both have directed big-budget franchise films; Cuaron directed Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban and Del Toro with Hellboy and Hellboy 2. Del Toro has recently revived plans for a possible Hellboy 3, but no one knows if Hellboy 3 will actually go into production.
