Aspie Low Pain Tolerance
For the last few days, I've been suffering from the flu and while most people probably wouldn't be in the best physical shape possible due to it, I've been writhing in utter pain, unable to handle any of the symptoms. My family thinks it's me being over-dramatic, but I legitimately have been in this much pain. Is a low tolerance to pain common in aspies? I can't handle a sore throat or cough without screaming in utter agony for it to go away.
Not for me. I have okay pain tolerance, but I developed it. When I was younger my pain tolerance was way lower, but some experiences (getting stung by a tarantula hawk, breaking my leg and ankle, splitting my head open on a curb) have heightened it.
I feel like as you have more painful experiences, you become more accustomed to the feeling. Although my eardrum ruptured the other day and that hurt really bad. I winded up in the er, and the morphine they gave me didn't do shyt. At least I got some hydros from doctor give-you-an-addiction.
I don't know why you would feel such extreme pain from the cold, unless you had strep throat or something. Hope that gets better!

I guess half of it has to do with my mental attitude. I don't take certain types of pain well because I feel like they're an affront on my personal image, hence why I'll b***h more about something like the flu and less about something like the time when my leg split open and I had to get several stitches. Also, in that case, I could still breathe clearly and I wasn't wheezing and gasping for air practically every second in utter pain.
