I always tend to wander off if I get bored, or its almost like my mind wanders off, and I just keep walking without thinking about where I'm going. Whenever we go to parks, or busy places, I just go in another world, and just wander. I can't tell you how many times this happens! I went to a park one time with my boyfriend, he turned his head for five seconds he said, and I was gone, he ended up finding me cross the street without looking and ran after me. I've also done that a couple of times, which I'm usually good, but there are times, I just see the other side of the street, I don't see whats going on on the street, just at the other side, so sometimes I jet across the street without looking, almost got killed a couple times. I can also recall a time I walked home from school, which is like a 2 mile walk, and almost got squished between two cars, because I wanted to get see what somebodys bumper sticker said without thinking, well I might get hit, just walk into the street, its scary. Anybody else have this problem?

i do this driving. I kind of forget where I was going. Well not exactly "forget". Like if you asked me where I was supposed to be going I would know. But while I'm driving I get sort of wrapped up in my own thoughts and drive aimlessly to a totally different part of town than I was meaning to go to.

I always wander off and it drives my dh crazy. I did this a couple of times when we lived in Italy and on tours. He ended up making the tour bus driver drive around and around looking for me. They never did find me. I found my own way back to the other city where we had a hotel room. He hates it when I do that.

I've also wandered out into traffic. :(

lol, same-if I ever managed to get somewhere without having to turn around due to missing turns, passing exits... itwould be a miracle. I managed to wind up in another state once, and have gotten on the wrong highway numerous times. I'm not a horrible driver, I just rarely pay attention to where I'm headed to.

I often "space" or "zone." Driving, a dangerous time but it happens a lot. I've walked out into traffic a few times too, not paying attention.

And if I'm with a group, I'll often wander off by myself. Usually if I see something interesting, I'll just walk off to investigate. Then something else catches my eye... and something else...

I did that quite a bit when I was a kid. I would do what you would call "house hopping" going house to house looking for someone to play with. One day I just walked off on my own to the park. I saw this lady there and then proceeded to tell her my parents were dead. I was 5 at the time and still to this day have no idea why I did this. The cops were called and it really scared the crap out of my mom. She said at that I age I should have known better to not wander off, but I guess not.

There have been a couple of times as an adult where I wandered off alone to the park because I was really angry at my parents. I was just trying to let off some steam, and I did come back.

While driving. It's terrible. I do expect that I will end up killing myself or another.

No I don't wander...I do these two though; when I’m left alone I:

sit down, stare at the ground and think
pace along a 10m. stretch of firma whilst looking at the ground and thinking

I've never been lost 'cause I don't go anywhere; me happy with wherever I am located.

I often do that.
However i keep myself from doing it too long for me to drive wrong.
I've never actually drove/walked/bicycled wrong because of it.

I don't do that. Not unless you count wandering off on the internet :D

Only thing I do while driving is go on autopilot and end up going towards work even if I didn't mean to.

I devoted much of my webpage to wandering off:
Before even learning to walk I had a real strong desire to wander off on my own. On one occasion I wandered off on my own across the main Street at the age of just 16 months on what was then the main through highway. It was amazing how I made it across alive. A migrant family finally found me crawling along the foot path outside their home and took me inside and fed me up on chocolates. My older sister was alerted to all the comotion when she passed by their house with the migrant family calling out "baby was loves chocolate" I was too young to remember the experience personally, but my face was covered in chocolate so evidently I must of enjoyed the experience.

Well I am 53 now and still have the urge to do it (not on my hands and knees though)
Cheers
Paul
