To start this thought I will go back to age 13.
I started collecting Battlestar Galactica in 1979.
The covers were 35¢ and later 40¢, in
comparison to the $2.95+ that is current cover
price.
By age 15, or 1981, I was collecting most
Marvels of the day. The ones I remeber the
most were X-Men #170's-200. Moon Knight
was another one.
By age 19, or 1985, I was collecting DC's
like "Crisis in the Infinite Universe", and
most of the titles of that day. I was in
particular interested in the goldenage
character returns and hooked up with a
established dealer and I got my self
emersed into the business of selling
10¢ covers, Big Little Books, Pulp Magazines
and left most new titles alone.
By age 24, or 1990, I left that aspect of
collecting and returned to DC since
they weren't tweaking too much with
their established characters(G.A Green
Latern, S.A Green Latern, ect...)
and started collecting Radio Show based
characters like "The Shadow Strikes",
re-make of "The Green Hornet", and
stayed with my Gold Key TV titles,
and 10¢ covers.
I still blend myself into this area, but now
collect flea market level(Boxes of xyz at $10
with 10-50 issues with and without covers)
And what I didn't like I gave to the Goodwill.
This is how I see myself collecting comics.
It is a hobby, should have stayed a hobby,
and remains a hobby.
Sincerely,
Ghosthunter
