What does 'Home' means to you

'Home' means for me much more than life is worth. It means having a place of your own to live instead of another and so on but it also means being alone and feeling compfortable in an environment of your own and not of somebody else's choice for U!

my home is my room, with my kitty. even though there are many rooms in this house, this room is mine, it is a reflection of me.

Wherever my birds and boyfriend are

(Why is it that although I am bothered by a thousand small noises every day, the incredibly loud screechy sounds that my birds make just fill me with happiness? Why is it that I can't read other humans, but I can tell what my birds are feeling just by looking at their eyes and posture? Weird one that)

Nah - I'll take animals over humans any day - too bad I'm allergic to most of them!

A place that is familiar that I can go back to (in fact spend most of my time at currently) and not have to deal with everything being chaotic and confusing because it's all familiar at home so I have to process less information.

I only noticed this after moving out as an adult. Prior to that I had no attachment to any particular place because my parents' house was chaotic and confusing as much as anywhere else. Now I don't like leaving home because it's confusing and shifting and tiring, and home is stable. Even if I go somewhere familiar it's not the same as home. This is a new feeling for me, but it's something about the familiarity and the fact that I control the locks on the doors and stuff. (Prior to this my closest thing resembling "home" in this manner was a very institutional one, and I did not control the locks on the doors there. This is way better.)

This is another part of past-tense to future-tense
home. I use to run from this home my
grandmother had out of ignorance and return
periodically for the sense of respect that loved
ones have shown and I am trying to show.

I don't control the key. I control my life. It is
nice to go and have a place to go that is saying
this is me.

the posture and motions of a bird are very obvious and noticable. Facial expression are subtle and have 10 thousand little nuaces which you've got to just LEARN intuitively during the years of your life which you have the highest capacity to learn. I wish i had a tail and wings, because i have lots of emotions which i wish i could express, but my face just doesnt say them.

A place familiar, a retreat from sensory mayhem of the outsideworld although it to has its moments even here, its a place i can feel safe and i feel i can learn a lot even from my son who is also dx aspie.

Home: Being with those you love, and be able to throw the worries and stress of daily life away, if even for a little while. A place where you can relax and be your own self instead of pretening being someone or something else.

I guess that sums it up for me
