I've heard/read stuff that hinted at AS causing a person to look younger than their chronological age, but haven't seen anything definitive.

Doe anyone know where I can find more info?

I don't know, but I physically matured one heck of a lot faster than anyone in my classes. I was 5'8, 165 in 6th grade and 6'2 200 in 8th grade. Right now I look 40 years old when I am 20.

I do not know if it is related, but I am short (5'3"), skinny (hardly 100lbs) and I look much younger than my age (I am eighteen years old and people who meet me think I am fourteen or fifteen years old).

Hmm, it would be cool if we somehow had the fountain of youth gene caught up in our AS genes.

As a child, I matured a little sooner than most. Now that I am older, I don't look 60, but I always figured it was just the excess fat pushing out the wrinkles.

I know for a fact that I have delayed bone maturity as well as AS. Last week, my pediatrician was worried because I have been below the 3rd percentile in height my entire life, so she arranged for me to have my hands x-rayed to find out what my bone age is. I am very short for a 14-year-old, only 4'10" (147 cm) Your bone age is how mature your bones are and how old your body thinks it is. Well, I had my hands x-rayed 4 days ago, and yesterday I found out that my bone age is 13 years and 0 months. My body thinks that I just turned 13, but I'm really 14 years and 1 month. Even though this is short, it is still considered in the normal range, and hopefully I will grow to a considerable height.

I was always a full head taller than my peers - even the boys - and was already maturing physically (*ahem*) at the ripe old age of 9. I used to get bullied horribly by classmates who erroneously accused me of having been held back several grades in school, because I was so much taller than my same-aged peers. Then, when they found out that I was the same age they were, I was tortured for being a "giant". Wheeee! I finally reached my full height of 6'1" at about 19-20 or so. What's bizarre (and pretty awesome) is that at 37, I generally pass for about 25... Maybe it's "payback" in my favor for the hell I endured as a child..? :D \m/

I don't know if I look younger than I am.

As for bone age or maturity, I am a >6" 16 year old who has always been tall, yet when I last had a hand x-ray (six years ago) they said my bone age was significantly lower than my chronological age, I can't remember the exact number.

I was a little slow in hitting puberty, but still safely within the norms. However, with my 39th birthday coming up next month, most people guess my age to be in my late 20s/early 30s.

I'm 18 and people have asked me if I was 14 or 15. But I don't know if it delays physical maturity because I started puberty when I was 10 years old.

Yes, I have heard that too. AS people mature slower than other people.
