Angry/depressed about unimaginable US security threat

I really can't explain how mad I get at these national existential threats to the USA. Why is it always the USA that faces existential threats and crises'? I wish I was over 70 right now, so I wouldn't have to had dealt with existential fear in America when I was a young age. This makes the entire Cold War look like nothing by comparison. It would take less effort to destroy infrastructure like the grid then it would've been the process of setting off a nuclear missile. It doesn't even compare anymore as far as I'm concerned. I wish nothing would happen like this at all, but I'm really angry because we're ultimately going to lose. Even NK is making more threats about it lately, and they do have the capabilities described here.
But, oh I'm sure our "all-loving" God will protect us!
No, even if there is a God, I don't believe he wants to help or bless, even the weakest and most heart-torn of us.
His blessing really only applies to very devout Christians anyway. I don't even want to accept why he would allow such an unimaginable catastrophic existential event like this to happen. I do wish atheists on here will stop giving me a tough time, though.
I have very strong fears and feelings about it.
Sorry for a bit of my anxiety/harsh vent, this really isn't new to me, but it's so scary to think about.
Hey there. Only thing I can really do is knowledge that you have described being anxious about the matter. Haven't got something to offer that I'm certain will help change it for the better for you.
Are a few things I could say about that but am not going to, other than to say it shows a lot of frustration and the last sentence has a point.

Not true.
My best friend who I lost to heart disease at one point was not only a mere atheist saying there was no God, but she was a self-proclaimed anti-Christian and an enemy of God. Then God changed her life and blessed her.
No, God didn't make her life all "flowers and lollipops" and she wasn't perfect (who is?). She didn't win the lottery, and God didn't give her a pony. In fact, her life was hard. That said, to my mind, she faced her challenges in life heroically, and as her friend, I say that it was a joy, an honor, and a privilege to know her. I really admired her, and still do.
And I think, and she suspected too, that she may have been an Aspie.
If you would have known her, she'd have had a good chance convincing you
that there's hope.
Hey there,
I'm a European (well sort of.. from the UK). My entire family were raised during wars and fought in them (world wars, civil wars etc etc) and it's highly unlikely anything will kick off between the US and North Korea. Reason? It would be the end of them and China doesnt want a war on its border.
I read how the chinese even tried to put in a coup to topple the north korean dictatorship a long time back now, but still! Yes Donald Trump is getting all fiery and things but we've lived honestly through some even more scary moments that were much closer to world war than North Korea and survived to tell the story! I always used to get real scared when things were kicking off in Europe with Russia but my dad would always say.. look.. we've been closer to war than this before OK and it'll all blow over (spoiler alert: it did!). North Korea is acting like a spoiled child in a candy shop, wanting more and trying to gain leverage to gain more than its value as a nation. Politicians are in essence giving North Korea a "time out" for acting up. If anything does happen I'll eat my hat because its pretty unlikely North Korea actually wants to be eradicated.
The media in North America especially hype up potential dangers (fear sells basically). So dont worry about it. Plus, which country was it that helped Israel develop its "Iron Dome" system? The USA! They literally get shot at every single day over there and that system works pretty darn well. Im pretty sure the USA has some greater sophistication of missile interception technology than it sold to the Israelis. They just installed the missile defence system in Asia too making it even less likely they would ever be able to land a single missile on the US. All this talk of an EMP.. guys.. it wouldn't even get across the ocean before getting shot down OK. There's a huge ocean between those guys and you guys there. Any missile crossing that ocean isn't going to be a mistake if ever shot, and it will be shot down and then they will be invaded/destroyed for it. It isn't worth it for them.
Hope this has helped calm you a little. Just remember, there has been so many near wars. (Cuban Missile Crisis, Cold War, UK invasion of Falklands) so you can pretty sure it isn't going to happen.
