Quote:
The £3,000 sex robot which was the star attraction at a big electronics fair in Austria this month, has broken down after a large number of visitors got overexcited. Samantha the Sex Doll had been showing off her 'skills', which include reacting to touch, hugging and moaning - and remembering individuals she has 'interacted' with, at the Arts Electronica Festival in Linz. However, Samantha's creators have now been forced to send her to be repaired, after visitors left the robot 'heavily soiled' and with broken limbs.

Okay, so I wasn't going to comment on this until I read the last line! Did anybody catch that? Some freak psychologist is saying that some men having a preference to having sex with this robot vs. a human is an autistic trait. I swear, I get tired of people denigrating us.

What did the inventors expect, having the doll on display like that?

The psychologist seems to be a relationship counselor and sex therapist. She has no visible credentials that would add weight to her perspective on ASD. I find it galling the way she used the word autistic, although it could be language differences or Daily Mail interpretation that makes it sound like an insult.

Senger, co-chair at the Austrian Society for Sexual Research (OeGS) called the trend (for sex dolls) 'a real autistic tendency'.

really? isn't this an advanced form of masturbation?

I'm curious how the doll got soiled, was it behind some curtain or screen or were there grown men openly copulating with the doll in public??

There is an unfortunate tendency for people to attribute all social awkwardness and difficulty obtaining romantic relationships in men to autism/ASDs.

In my experience, men who are actually on the spectrum would prefer a real person and a real relationship to a sex doll.

Perhaps Alex can remedy the many misconceptions about those on the spectrum by doing a full length documentary that interviews and follows the daily lives of a variety of people on the spectrum so others can see that we are a diverse group of people from all demographics, with different personalities and different strengths and weaknesses.

I don't think so I think most NTs would classify this as "introverted" male behavior...NTs (in my experience) don't use the term autistic unless its a swear word to put somebody down

Having sex with a doll/robot seems quite weird to me. Not interested.

In Bladerunner the concept was sex clones rather than machines
