When answering these questions regarding your parents and grandparents, considder whichever side of the family you believe passed down the most traits of Asperger Syndrome.

I live in Australia. My grandfather is a doctor, as was his father and my great, great grandfather also had a quite rewarding career.
But then something went wrong. Right accross the board, people in my fathers generation had various misfortunes that ruined careers (and took one life). It was like a curse. I don't believe in curses per se.

The common factor in all these problems was timing. It all happened in the 60s and 70s.
I believe that the economic outcome of WWII caused a gradual change in Australian culture that "changed the rules of the game" as far as success in society is concerned. I'm not blaming America here but what I'm talking about is the begninnings of the americanisation of the west.

I think that some elements of Brittish culture may have been somewhat friendly to Aspies. I'm curious if there is a pattern or if it was all just bad luck. If nothing, the results of the poll will be interesting nontheless.

I live in the UK, and my parents and grandparents do. We've never emigrated.

You might call it "americanization," but our culture changed as well.

I live in the UK and always have done; likewise with my parents.

My maternal grandparents where both born in England but both came from Russian immigrant families; my grandmother grew up in a house where everyone spoke in a Russian dialect although she spoke perfect English and couldn't really remember all of the Russian in later life.

My paternal grandfather was from a family of German immigrants and my paternal grandmother was from an English family, although her father was probably Irish. She isn't that sure about it though as she was orphaned at 13-14.
