Don't post an absolutely massive pic of yourself. Resize it, make it smaller (usually below 1024 pixels on the largest side is enough) then upload to ImageShack.us. Find the direct link, paste it in, put [ URL ] / [ / URL ] tags (without spaces!) around it and away you go.
I would suggest creating a free account on a site like photobucket, uploading the pic there, and just posting the URL to the photo, not the actual photo.
