I had to watch it because the main character is based on the motel owner in the movie Psycho, the one with the creepy shower stabbing scene. I always liked that horror movie, for a horror because it was actually scary, like sometimes I still get nervous about getting in the shower if I am by myself even though I saw it years ago. I kind of thought the show might act as kind of a prequel but it really didn't...it was an original series with a character based on him. Anyways I thought it was really good, certainly disturbing. But basically ended up being a kind of drama/thriller of a kid, his unhealthy relationship with his over-protective mother and some dark things in the past that finally drive him to insanity. Certainly one of those shows that is hard to stop watching once you start.

Yes, I really enjoyed it. I thought the acting was superb.

Some of the story lines were a little over the top, but overall I enjoyed it.

Freddy Highmore is one of my favourite actors. He captured the essence of Anthony Perkins but didn't do an all out cheesy imitation.

I really thought he played Norman acting as his mother well. He had her mannerisms down to a tee.

And both are really based on Ed Gein.

That part creeped me out, I think the actor did a good job with it though.

They better because Ed Gein wore his mother's dresses. (Real Person)

I watched the first season. It was okay, but not great.

I'm not impressed by Hitchcock's old movies TBH. Recently rewatched The Birds, found it really boring.

I haven't seen Netflix's remake of Psycho, wonder if it's any good...
